Summer Signings 2026

Also reports today we are interested in Falkirk striker Barney Stewart. Wouldn't mind this, him and Osmand fighting for 2nd/3rd striker slot behind a high quality goalscorer (in other words a replacement Kyogo 18 months too late)
Surely they should be fighting for 3rd or 4th striker slot? No decent sized club should be going in with only one (or even none!!!) striker. It leaves no room for injuries, suspensions, loss of form, changing system or resting players when playing 2 high tempo games every week for months.

In a well run club with a director of football who has a handle on the whole football operation then yes, you'd have 4 strikers in the first team squad. However...........

As he's doing well at Bolton anyone think we should bring Johnny Kenny back and give him another go?
Or has he flourished as he's in an easier league and there isn't the pressure and expectation he faced playing for us?
He is a goalscorer, he's proved that during his loans to Shamrock rovers and Bolton, now can he do it in Scotland?, the problem is was it style of play, in a team that was low in confidence, does he play better as a lone striker or as part of a front 2, we don't really know. Was the fact that he is a Celtic supporter means he was trying too hard, I think he would also benefit from a loan to a higher level League, the championship in England is a tough level and if he doesn't score there then he won't make it with us.HH

TBF to Kenny our season has been chaotic to say the least. Even experienced players have struggled with 4 managerial changes (if you include MONs 2 spells)
The Tisdale interference and eventual sacking after filling the squad with duds. Injuries all over, our top keeper hiding an injury.
He was thrown in with massive pressure on him when he would normally be given much more time to develop his game and build his confidence.

He had many chances in on goal and fucked them. We need a striker with composure and confidence.

As have all of our strikers this season, even Maeda till recently.
Bolton are in the playoffs to go into the Championship. If he scores and gets them there good luck to him. His value will significantly increase and we could profit. It might be better for him as well.

Caravans away, loan spell over as he's having an op. Will anyone notice?
I suppose he did have 3 big key moments that could or not be a massive contribution towards our season ....his assist at Tynecastle and Killie and his winning pen against the huns along with a couple of goals and he might just be remembered for the all the right reasons.
