Transfer Window - Summer 2025

Kyogo Furuhashi could return to Celtic six months after a £10m transfer to Rennes that has turned sour, with the Scottish champions and the Japan forward both keen on the move, but Bournemouth could make an offer for the 30-year-old in the coming weeks. (Transferfeed via Foot 7)

Celtic have told Fenerbahce they want £21m for Daizen Maeda as negotiations begin over the Japan forward, while Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the 27-year-old. (Sozcu)

Yid think Daizen would be having a word with Ange about going to Toxic Hotspur... Although maybe now Ange has gone from them that story will die..

from one of the Celtic Underground guys
Rumoured to be interested in a couple of young hungarian guys. One a defensive midfielder and one a winger. Zalan Vancsa and Mihály Kata.
A wee look at these guys, Vancsa is a 20 y.o. left winger who played in the Dutch 2nd tier with Roda last season but has returned to Lommel in Belgium (City Group team). Been capped by Hungary. Kata is a 23 y.o. midfielder playing for MTK Budapest. Also been capped by Hungary.

A resounding NAW to Ajer coming back! One of THE most overrated defenders we've ever had.

Not only was he a clumsy tackler who constantly gifted the opposition fouls in dangerous areas as well as giving away his fair share of penalties but he continuously left the defence exposed whenever he charged forward with the ball only to jog back when we lost it.

Seems all this guy had to do was make one crunching tackle per game to have people singing his praises and forget the countless errors he made. Rocki a far better option imo.

So much for being overrated. This is a guy who has played in the Premier League (supposedly the best league in the world) for the last few seasons and not looked out of place.

He would be a great addition to our squad. Trusty is very poor, Scales is good at a domestic level but the step up to European level is too much for him, and CCV gets the plaudits because he's better than them both - but still not brilliant.

Rocky should also be given a chance. Has looked solid every time he has played for us. No nonsense and obviously a team player as he has never moaned about being pissed about by BR.

So we are getting linked with a series of young foreign players with little experience. Meanwhile we refuse to give opportunities to similar players already on our books.

I understand it is a good business strategy to an extent but I'd prefer to limit it to 2 or 3 projects to supplement a few experienced players who have been targeted because they will improve our side and the manager wants them.

In fairness those mentioned this morning are internationals. The worry for me is BR isn't signing new deal so the board won't sign the players he wants and will do what they did 2 summers ago, sign a load of 'projects' and hope one or two work.
We need a few young players, like those mentioned, to supplement the 3 or 4 signings that will improve us immediately

Nat Philips played in the Premier League and didn't look out of place....I rest my case M'Lud! Only joking Ket.(y)

Seriously though mate it isn't like Ajer has been a mainstay in the Brentford defence he's been a squad player at best (24 games across all 3 competitions last season, 7 of them sub appearances and it's been much the same in his previous seasons barring his first) and ironically he's actually played his best football down there when deployed at right-back rather than centre-back.

Funnily enough I always reckoned Ajer would've excelled for Celtic in the DCM role! The qualities he did have were tailor made for that position and his shortcomings would've been less exposed and less costly playing further up the pitch but as a centre-back I stand by what I said previously....one of THE most overrated we've ever had.

I agree Trusty and Scales aren't the answer but neither is Ajer, we can and should be able to identify a better standard of centre-back than all 3 imo. (y)

Ajmer came to us as a central midfielder….ronnie put him at centre half I’m sure??your correct he was rank…

The problem for me is that Celtic still need to get shot of so many players who are choking up the squad but I do not see a queue of clubs lining up to buy them. I kid you not when I say I believe that Welsh, Holm, Palma, Lagerbielke, Kwon, Trusty, are all decent players who could do a good job for many clubs just not for Celtic. yet I cannot see a solution unless the club sells all of them at a significant loss before we can buy or the squad becomes far too bloated. My preferences in the window if we do not sell any players would be a truly hardcase imposing centre back ( Bobo ) a truly hardcase defensive midfielder ( the boy from Turkey ) and a knock fuck outta them striker ( big bad John ). If we lose anyone e.g. Daizen or Kuhn then we need to spend big to replace 'em . We also need to resign Mathew Anderson

KT withdraws from Scotland squad with an Injury. No idea what the injury is but already this sounds familiar.
Gonna be really important to get a decent left back in who can cover.
According to Clarke, KT and McTominay both had slight knocks coming into the squad so came off on Friday and have been left at home rather than travelling to Liechtenstein. Had the games been more than a couple of days apart they could have played in both.
KT will obviously need his gametime managed, avoid 2 games a week where possible and steer well clear of the plastic pitches in the SPFL.

That sounds crazy to me Gaz....KT at the age of 27 or 28 needs his gametime managed ...he should be at his peak for christ sake.
I think I know now why I wasn't getting particularly excited by his return.... my gut instinct was he is far too injury prone.
With Greig going I hope we get a reliable back up in ....I suspect whoever that is will get plenty of gametime.

Bringing him back is a huge risk, but probably one worth taking given there is no transfer fee. KT fit and available even for 30 games, half our season, gives us a massive upgrade in defence. I still think he will play LCH rather than LB more often than not, and that should help him play more games. Hopefully now that he has won his 50th cap and entered the Scotland Hall of Fame he'll retire from international football, or at least tell Clarke that he won't be available for the qualifiers in Sept/Oct/Nov to allow him to concentrate on his fitness.
Clarke needs to be asked why he is playing players who are not fully fit in a meaningless friendly against Iceland at the end of a long hard season. I'm sure Napoli won't be happy either with McTominay getting played whilst not fit.
