Transfer Window - Summer 2025

The comments from the go ahead eagles director tells you how much interest and intent we had in signing their player until a player is paraded in front of the press then it's all guesswork if the club are genuinely trying to sign players

Is that the guy that laughed at us and said we should be more like Rangers?? What an embarrassing board we have. And Liewell, the guy that never saw the 5 way agreement (bullshit) has PERSONALLY told Hugh Keevins that he has nothing to do with tranfers. Hes went out his way to tell a media lackie, who constantly attacks the club and our fans, information about tranfers. And yet the board wont speak to the fans who plough the cash, time and everything else into the club. Get them all to fuck. Rats and snakes the lot of them.

Get the board to fuck. Another week of absolutely fuck all happening.
I would guess, after listening to BR yesterday, that nothing will happen next week or the following week either. Nothing until after the CL qualifier so we go into that, and go to Ibrox, with the current squad.
DD likes to be seen to have won the negotiation, and if that means leaving signings until late in the window so be it. Even though this backfired last summer his ego won't allow him to admit he got it wrong and do things differently.

It sounds like no incoming players until after the qualifiers. But you can guarantee we will gleefully do a deal when a lower end EPL club comes in with an offer for one of our star players.

Then replace them with a 19 year old Latvian project who costs thrupence ha'penny and expect them to be as good.

This lot are seriously starting to try my notoriously wonderful patience and optimism!

Not trying to defend the board however BR is certainly complicit in this because of his attitude.
He has spoiled several good quality players because they didn't quite come up to his standards.
We have been forced to release centre backs; left backs; midfielders; wingers and strikers who were perfectly able if they had been given sufficient opportunities to play and demonstrate their quality.
We currently have two Japanese guys that Brendan doesn't appear to fancy so the chances are that they will go the same way as others. There is clear disconnect between all the parties here so I wouldn't be too quick to jump into one camp or another. Just saying like. HH🍀🍀

DD certainly won the negotiation for Idah... at twice the price we were originally about to pay.

From an interview 5 years ago when he was still Exeter boss. He has since developed his own data based recruitment algorithm, a sort of Tony Bloom/Jamestown lite

The Nine Rules of Recruitment (Paul Tisdale)
  1. Work with what you have
Develop and maximize the potential of your existing squad before seeking external signings.
  2. Spend the money like it’s your own
Operate with financial prudence—every pound spent must deliver clear value.
  3. Don’t waste time on players you are unlikely to sign
Avoid investing time and energy into recruitment targets who aren’t realistically attainable.
  4. Have a filtering system to make a shortlist
Filter down large lists efficiently—focus only on players who meet strategic needs and fit your budget.
  5. Have a system in place for picking up a bargain
Look for undervalued players—those who failed at a bigger club but still possess quality.
  6. Find out if they have a connection to the area
Prioritize players with geographic ties (e.g., played locally, family in the region)—they’re more likely to settle and commit.
  7. Put in the groundwork so you can sign them later
Cultivate relationships with potential recruits over time, so when circumstances change, you’re top of mind.
  8. Make sure players want to play for you again
Build a club reputation that players want to return to—or think of first when seeking a destination.
  9. Be flexible about your style if there is talent available
Adapt your tactical system to incorporate available talent, rather than rigidly imposing a fixed style.

There is a lot of truth in what you say. But surely the point of recruiting players is to provide the manager and coaches the best possible players affordable, that fit our business model. But it must be essential that these players suit the style, traits, mentality and skillsets that the manager demands.

Repeatedly buying very capable players who aren't deemed suitable by the management team is an absolute waste of time. Personally, I have always been of the opinion that any sporting coach should review what they have available and adapt the tactics and formation to get the best out of them.

But that is not the norm these days as managers of bigger teams have a "philosophy" and insist players change to suit this or else not play. Rodgers is very much in this vein and our board/recruitment team know this - and knew this before he returned - but stubbornly refuse to supporr him and give him what his ego demands.

This harms our chances of qualifying for the big money maker for what appears to be petty power games as people with little football knowledge try to show our footballing operations (the whole point of a Football Club, I would suggest?) who the big cheese really is. It is pathetic.

Don't disagree with you I just think the BR can be a bit inflexible as a result we end up keeping poorer quality players than we get rid of - the centre back position is a perfect example of that in my opinion. As I say its just a personal view and it certainly won't stop me supporting the bhoys in the same way that I have done since the days of the Kelly empire. HH 🍀 🍀

If you are going to have a manager then he has to have final say in transfers, in and out.
If you want to have a recruitment process that brings in players to suit a specific style of play where the manager, or in this case head coach, is part of a process but doesn't necessarily have final say, then you need a Director of Football/Head Coach model where the DoF has a set budget and given free reign to recruit/sell within the model and budget.
We have neither. We are a hybrid because we have a group of old men desperately hanging onto their blazers and unwilling to relinquish any power over the football operation to a 'football professional'.
BR is caught between these two ways of operating and in addition is the de-facto club spokesman on all matters other than marketing Adidas tat on a day to day basis.

Who did we release that were perfectly able?? Kwon? Palma? Iwata? Bernabi? Newrocki? Lagerbielka?
People like to rewrite a bit in their own brains. Newrocki was injury prone, unfit and had his arse handed to him by the Aberdeen forward line and several other strong strikers. Iwata had a couple of half decent displays but was completely obscure in some other games. Bernabi couldn't defend.
BR has been handed dross. He wants to take the club forward and he knows he can't do that with 1 million pound signings. The board are doing fuck all to help him. This is 100% on the board. And again, I am not a fan of Idah but he scored 20 goals last season. He won us the Scottish cup. Engels is a young guy but has class, we can all see. Trusty has had some epic displays for us...Atlanata being a stand out and we have just mad a 12 million pound profit on Kuhn...another BR player.. these are players BR wanted and would have been cheaper if it wasnt for the board.

Just trying to put a different perspective on things - some things people might agree some things people might not. At the end of the day we all want the same thing which is a successful and financially sound club that will be here for much longer than all of us. HH 🍀 🍀
