transfer window

Yes, Murray (or maybe I am mixing him up with Dalby from Dundee Utd?). He isn't a player to be making a profit on in 3 years time, but will be a player we can use in a large number of games and know he can do a decent job. He would cost less to buy than, say, Holm and his wages would be half of what Scott Bain is on and would contribute a lot more on the pitch.

Just to be clear - I am only making this suggestion as it fits the budget our board are prepared to pay. As we've seen, the alternative is to buy no one which can leave us very exposed due to loss of form, fatigue, injuries, suspension, tiredness from international duty. We can and should be able to afford another top quality striker to improve us for Europe but that will not happen.

I totally agree with playing our youngsters a LOT more. This can also be done in conjunction with buying the occasional experienced player who we know can contribute in domestic games which make up 80% of our match day schedule each season. Rather than repeatedly subbing on Full Backs to see out games, bring on a youth player.

it looks like we have lost Cummings too. A lower tier English club have made an offer from him and we supposedly haven't even offered him a contract!
Cummings will be a £40 mil player down the line. Sick of us ignoring wat we already have.

Agree. Seems to be some kind of fear about giving our academy lads a chance. We can play guys like Engels coz he cost £11m but not Cummings coz he didn’t cost anything in transfer fees?
Amazing that top flight teams like Liverpool, Barca, Bayern will give kids a chance if they seem good enough but we won’t.

Serious question involving this topic-does a manager typically have terms in his contract that he gets a cut of any future profits from players he has brought to the club?-would this then discourage them from playing youth?-don't shoot me-just curious
I’m not sure how typical it is but fairly certain the manager of Bodo has this type of clause and apparently one of the reasons it’s hard to get him to move. Think it applies to all players including academy for him.

It is very unusual in this country. The only manager I can remember this clause being made public was for Jackie McNamara at Dundee Utd. There were arguments put forward by some on here as to why a certain manager would never join us a few years back because he had it in the contract at his then club.

I would be astonished if Brendan had it in his contract. This would have leaked out by now. I think it is more that football is now so short-term obsessed these days that there is little incentive to develop youngsters as over 90% of managers won't still be at the same club when these players are really producing the goods.

And at a club like Celtic, we do not accept dropping points, so our managers feel that they must win every domestic game.

Rumours from Celtic Underground Substack

KT has agreed pre contract deal but it'll be the last day if we are getting him this window.
Kvistgaarden number one target for striker, we're offering £9m, they want £13m. If true I'm sure a deal will get done.
If we can move Nawrocki on we will sign Tobias Slotslager, 19 y.o. 6'4" Danish centre half from OB
We may sign a Scottish midfielder but not the one everyone thinks. Bit cryptic but would assume not Lennon Miller but someone else (we were linked with Andy Irving of West Ham in the summer so maybe him?)

So, when Jota does arrive, who do we play on the left wing....Maeda or Jota....If Jota is at his best, and plays how he played before leaving us, do we play him every game...If we do, what about Maeda...I know its a great problem for Brendan to have, but we have to keep players happy...I know Maeda can play a striker through the middle, then that leaves us with the Idah situation, along with another striker, if we sign one.....Better to have too many players on form, than be short. But surely they need game time to come up to speed so to speak...

Thoughts....

I’m just hoping that with signing Jota, Maeda isn’t next for the off…

Think that would fall under integrity and foul play. Managers would then be manager /agents and i do not think this would fly with UEFA or SFA. remember we can get info on managers salaries and it would show on clubs books. Not quite EBTs but would be taxable and would show IMO.
