They were fantastic transfer windows. But I can't really remember windows as such.

So going off on another tangent, probably the transfer that I remember gettig most excited about was when we bought Thomas Graveson from Real Madrid.

He was tougher than Chuck Norris in his prime and I thought he had done well at Everton and was convinced his no-nonsense style would flourish in the Scottish league. I was at his debut when he did well against Aberdeen although he was belting about everywhere like my Mum was controlling him on FIFA '07.

As it transpired, he was all-nonsense and his awful performances formed the blueprint for Joey Barton's Glasgow career! But the excitement leading up to him signing for us was so wonderful, as was the anticipation waiting for him to show us what he could do in the Hoops.

I'm sure that was the season we got to champ league last 16 I remember leaving parkhead beating man utd and never realised we reached last 16 until I got to the supporter bus 🤣 fair play to Gordon tho he didn't have have same quality of squad as Martin but the team worked hard

I was really not impressed by our transfers, especially given the comments BR made when he signed.

One of my reasons for signing up here was to vent my fury at the lack of a "Marqee signing"

But then I started to think about the signings that didn't impress me and then went on to be great, and the ones I thought would be great, but turned out to be duds

I think the last signing I was excited about was Hacksa, came to nothing.

Where as AJ I thought, ok let's see not expecting much.

So my opinion of the window is, on paper, didn't get the quality I was expecting, but think we've got one or two unpolished diamonds

I wasn't looking for outrageous money to be spent. Just thought, and still think, we could've pushed the boat out a tad more than we did. But, yes, I agree; a couple look like they have a decent chance.

Which marquee signing had you hoped to sign?

No idea really, just somebody who would slot straight into the first team and improve it.

Palma might be that player, or Yang or maybe one of the others, but none of the signings really excite me.

Which might not be a bad thing, as in the past players who I thought would be great turned out to be average, and vice versa.

I personally dont think any player we sign will be exciting |(known quantity exciting i mean) in near future if the finances of game stay same or continue to get worse.

In curent market most 20M signings are still projects unless they are getting top tier wages or are that rich already that they dont care about playing at our wage structure.

trouble with 20m prpjects is they usually want 20m signings wages which again makes it unlikely we can afford his wages. and even if you could afford to give him the wages of a 20 million signing the risks that he flops becomes critical for sustainable growth in any form.

I have feeling 5m signings are around the expected wage level we can afford in this market and those players today arent exciting known quantity for club our size.

might get lucky and get top player who already multimillionaire and always wanted to play for celtic so wage structure isnt a problem.

But i doubt any exciting stick on first team upgrade players would want to play in scotland these days especially because our wages arent very attractive despite being far away from rest of the scottish football and although we get large fees for our players in recent years.

you cant replace our sales easily with better players cause our wages have limited expansion, well not likely to sign players who are ready made first team CL quality players and we cant retain them because 1 our league sucks and 2 our wage structure is limited to fraction of what bigger leagues can pay him and club cant afford to retain him if the offer is too good to refuse.

And unless they are known CL quality player doubt many will be excited until we at least seen the dude perform regularly at good level.

Doesnt mean the players we sign arent CL quality, just means they are unkown at that level hence reason they willing to sign at our wage level and play in our league against players who arent really worth a lot.

The injuries have made me even more down beat about the last window.

Essentialy we've replaced Abada and Jota with Yang and Palma, plus and injured project.

Yang looks good and Palma has a good rep, but it appears we're now weaker.

In defence we've replaced CCV , Starfelt and Roki, with Scales, Gus and Phillips.
Despite Scales MOTM performance and a clean sheet at the piggery you'd have to say that is a downngrade.

In midfield we've replaced Mooy and Hatate with Holm who looks good Kwon who looks like he needs time and Bernardo who I hope is going to be imense.

Of course that'sva very pessimistic view, as the injured players will all be back, but at the momment, that's where we are as I see it.

The way I see it is that Brendan done well bring in cover for the injured players we have.
Obviously, we don't know how long it'll take for the new Bhoys to settle in but I'm confident that they'll burst a gut trying to claim a spot in the starting line ups.
I have no concerns or worries regarding the future.
