I want to share some news re The Celtic Star. This week I concluded an agreement to sell The Celtic Star website through our media partner to an international media company. We wish the new owners all the best for whatever comes next and hopefully they'll take good care of it.
The Celtic Star started in February 2018 and we believe we have helped transform Celtic fan media, with our content on the site, the best photography going and of course a collective passion for everything Celtic. It's also where the Celtic Noise came from!
The sale of The Celtic Star for a significant sum illustrates that leading brand sites in the fan media space are valued as new media assets that bigger outlets wish to own. Over the past few months we rejected bids until our valuation was met and we believe we achieved a fair price that will allow us to develop our business further.
None of the writers will remain on The Celtic Star, instead they will all move over, lock, stock and barrel to our sister site Celticshorts.com where we are continuing with our Celtic coverage, uninterrupted.
We will also be launching a new premium site which will be focused on quality writing with a strong historical bias, with certainly no clickbait.
Celticstarbooks.com continues as before and our next book, Celtic in the Fifties by Matt Corr will be out in the autumn with others in the pipeline. All social media accounts will also remain under our control.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to The Celtic Star over the past eight years and especially to everyone who read the site, commented and helped spread the word. We hope you enjoyed it and we promise that what's to come is going to be even better.
We're still obsessed with Celtic, so hopefully we’ll see you over on Celticshorts.com which will also be the new home from home for Sandman.
