Wages in football

In light of the current situation, do you think that the inflated wages offered around on football, relative to the standard of leagues will plummet after this crisis settles down? Sky,BT and all the other football /sporting benefactors are going to take a huge hit and will need to cut costs...I can see a lot of our teams becoming part time again like they were in the 70's and 80's..not just the low leagues but established names such as Dunfermline, Thistle, Hearts, etc... dark times

Scottish clubs are used to living on little or no money ( while one pretends to have money that doesn't exist ) but I can see the greatest fallout from Covid-19 affecting the big money spenders in the EPL .

When ( ? ) the dust settles from this crisis , the TV /satellite companies will have lost huge amounts of money and may ( thankfully ) see that the ridiculous largess that they paid into the English Leagues was unsustainable .
The English ( and some of the bigger Euro leagues ) may have to cut their costs considerably after the virus !
That could , in the long run , benefit Football around Europe and allow more countries to play on a more level playing field .

Who knows Docco but the wages of NHS and supermarket staff should be doubled. If the last week has shown us anything it's that without these people working around the clock to keep us well and keep us fed then society would quickly descend into anarchy!

Put beautifully into perspective, Andy.

In a world where Zuckerbot, MasterGates and AssBezos have lost count of how many zeroes there are in their bank accounts, it's disheartening to think that those who are literally exposed to a present threat to life are being paid monkey nuts in comparison.

What a wonderful world........

There will always be "wealthier" teams but anything that helps balance things out is a positive thing for not just football moving forward. A positive i hope to come from this surreal time. It's like watching a movie and hoping for a happy ending.

The very folk that bastaart Johnson called "low skilled"šŸ„¢

The fucking idiot who couldn't seem to work out that more people being infected meant more people dying having the gall to call ANYONE 'low skilled' seems pretty fucking ironic right now MD.

It's those who have been undervalued and underpaid who are proving to be the ones we can't properly function without SP.

Also add the loathsome Richard Branson to that list too......the billionaire who sued the NHS and who's just told his workforce that they will have to take 8 weeks unpaid leave having the fucking temerity to ask the government for a Ā£7.5 billion taxpayer funded bailout.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
