What comes first... the chicken or the egg?

It's like the chicken & the egg conundrum. What comes first? Lawell has adopted the illogical scenario whereby we sell our best players as insurance in case we don't qualify for the CL, rather than trying to keep hold of our best players in order to make sure we do qualify and actually receive the money that goes with qualification. There are 3 players Celtic could have had in this current team, Keiren Tierney, Patrick Roberts and John McGinn. All three desperately wanted to play for Celtic and all Celtic fans would have loved watching them play together. We could have had all three, (Forrest on the right, Roberts on the left with Tierney backing him up and McGinn through the middle). We would have made (eventually), a huge profit from them after getting a couple of seasons of glory out of them. Tierney will soon be a 50 million pound asset, McGinn already is. Instead, Lawell fritters and wastes the money collected from our star players by selling them on and investing in cheaper low quality mercenary players with no affiliation to Celtic. Our club inevitably loses out on CL qualification and the downward spiral continues. It doesn't make sense from a football or financial point of view. Over the last two seasons, Celtic have lost out on at least 50 million quid due to this farcical insurance policy approach, and good players want to leave when they realize the futility of it all. If Lawell was around in the 60’s, the Lisbon Lions would have all been sold off. Chicken or egg? Lawell obviously prefers taking the chicken approach. Someone needs to tell him fortune favours the brave!

You have the gist of the problem ,like you I say why are we not making effort to have our playing staff up to scratch TO qualify for later stages of CL !we would recoup out investment, but the brains of the outfit see differently,hh

Dont talk about McGinn mate, still makes me angry.Watched him boss the game against us a few times when he played for Hibs and look at him now for Villa ,what a fuck up by our board that was HH

Also if we are relying on sales to prop us up, then in our alleged 'structure' who's identifying the next lot? Who's going to be in charge of scouting and recruitment? The summer job lad will soon be going back to college!
