Who didn't know about Glasgow's murky past?

I wrote a just slightly tongue in cheek piece on the ignorance of non-Celtic supporting Glaswegians. I was shocked when Darryl Broadfoot said he knew nothing of the city's slave past:

Have a read if you fancy it.

It might be my age ( over 21  ) , but I clearly remember being schooled in the strong links that Glasgow's prosperity had with the '' Slave Triangle '' : Money/goods to West Africa , traded for slaves ( often by the tribal chiefs ), across to the Carolinas etc... traded for cotton/sugar/tobacco , then back to the Clyde and Glasgow for the Textiles/Sugar/Tobacco factories industries .

Mind you , it may be that Darryl didn't have the luck that I had to be educated in the East End of Glasgow in the 50's/60/s - he's from Castlemilk , I believe ( the Colonies as far as we were concerned at that time ! 😲 )
