just done my predictions and actually seen for the first time the teams involved.
Really looking forward to the tournament now

FIFA have come up with yet another way to grift even more money out of the poor saps that are being ripped off to attend the world cup matches.

Despite temperatures in 14 of the 16 venues being classed as exceeding dangerous levels, FIFA have just announced that fans will not be allowed to take reusable water bottles into World Cup stadiums due to safety concerns. The official stadium code of conduct previously stated: "For the avoidance of doubt, empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles, up to (1 litre in) capacity, may be brought into the stadium."

But today they have just proclaimed "FIFA is committed to protecting the health and safety of all players, referees, fans, volunteers and staff" and so have banned empty bottles in case they are thrown at someone. However, you are of course going to be able to PURCHASE full bottles of water inside the stadium which of course are physically unable to be thrown at anyone.

FIFA have generously stated that the cost for the buying the bottled water will not be increased rom the usual price they sell it at in the stadium, but anyone who has ever bought a small bottle of water in an entertainment venue knows these are extortionate already.

This is the same FIFA who awards tournaments to countries with climates totally unsuitable for mid-summer sporting competitions, and have now introduced a compulsory 3 minute TV ADVERT BREAK water break for the players in each half. Of course, this is purely for the well-being of the players they are making play in ridiculous temperatures and not a result of pressure from US tv companies who have been pushing for decades to split it into quarters so they can get squeeze in more adverts.

You just know that the Fox commentators (or whichever station it is) breaking into "This water break has been brought to you by Dill's Shoe Shack - when you need to replace your flip flops with wellington boots, head on down to Dill's for the bestest selection of waterproof footwear in the tri-county region".

Where was I? Oh that's right - FIFA are a bunch of greedy crooks. Do you remember the good old days under Sepp Blatter when FIFA wasn't so corrupt?

I suppose they are needed for players playing in that heat. But we all know the real reason is yet another cash grab for tv companies to get in adverts (and pay FIFA more).

If they are making this compulsory then why not pause the clock for those 3 minutes and restart it when they restart?
