Overrated in my opinion , to many mistakes
A lot of his mistakes come when he's trying to overcompensate for other players indiscretions and getting sucked out of position.

He tends to let opponents get in front of him at set-pieces and he isn't as dominant in the air as he should be. These are parts of his game that can be worked on though. With the proper coaching a lot of these basic errors would be eradicated.

He's terrific with the ball at his feet and is a bit like Rogic in the way he can glide past players. I don't think he develops further with the current coaching team as is. With the proper guidance, he has the potential to be something special.

I think Kris Ajer has to be strong and demand that he is committed to a specialist position though. Another couple of years of playing this way will put him in the Nir Bitton utility player bracket. That serves no real purpose to him or the team.

I always thought he deserved a chance in central midfield but I can't see that happening. He has demonstrated recently that he can play RB very well so I'd continue to play him there. I'd also keep trying to negotiate a contract extension with him as there has been no-one trying harder than him in the last few games (maybe trying to impress for a move away admittedly).

That's what now BB?4 Celtic managers who dont think hes a better option in CM than what weve got , including Deila who brought him in so I think that we will only see him there through injuries. Granted the Celtic mf is up there with the hardest to break into , calmac, broony, Turnbull soro to name a few. He was on his way out before BR recognised his potential as a CB and what a spot that was no one couldve really foreseen his improvement there in such a short time. I'm not overly convinced hearing lenny say those who got us there will play, hearts may be a championship side but we all know theres not much difference between the top 6 championship clubs and most of the SPL sides. Throw in that hearts are free scoring right now and I worry about the side he'll put out. He said himself "I wouldnt say that weve turned the corner " and yet hes talking of reversing back round that corner for a match of such magnitude ? This game can be the real turning point for us and this will be risky business if we revert to type. Very disappointed to hear Lennon say that the players are nervous going behind when BR had planned for that and every scenario, tells me his standards have been allowed to slip or the current managerial team just dont have his vision. Lose this game and its over for lenny why would he risk that ? Backing from the board isnt enough the supporters will see to that either through not buying STs or merchandise unfortunately

RB for now. Only concern is him picking up an injury doing all the extra runs. He plays through knocks tbh but I think it was feb/march last year 🤔 we were playing him at RB for a spell and he didnt last too many games before picking up a muscle injury. Id imagine wingers/wb train differently. More sprint/dribbling drills? No idea if that would make any difference.
He is playing well there for now. Hope he keeps fit.

Ronny bought him as a very young prospect and he would never have had a chance to break into that midfield, so I wouldn't hold that against him. So that leaves only 2 managers - Rodgers and Lennon. And because Ajer was so successful at playing in defence then he has continued there. I think he has the attributes to play CM but as you rightly say, it is very difficult to break into our side in that position as we already have about a dozen central midfielders!
