Close season so its time for a transfer thread......

My take on it is that having players to fill positions is not the same as having first choice players competing for those positions. I don’t see the squad as being stronger never mind of higher quality e,g. We have 3 forwards of which 1 Ajeti hardly inspires confidence also at the moment we have 3 wide players including jota and Forrest who is currently injured. We brought in a midfielder, currently injured and lost 3 a quality CB and LB were required and we got the versatile Irish boy(not knocking him but unproven at this level). I’d say we had the cash to buy a couple of first picks but chose not to and my guess is that business before football is still the mantra.
I'm with you vinny
They could have pushed the boat out a wee bit further for quality
Now it's not to knock those that have signed as yet unproven
But for eg. Why did no one in Holland try sign the Greek lad for 2.5 million despite being the league's top scorer
The lad from Portugal was on loan at who last season ?
Couldn't have impressed if he goes on last day of window to a team in a different country
I hope I'm wrong but worry

Automatic qualification for champions league this season but they decided they'd rather 25 million now

Jaysus lads some people wouldn't be happy if we signed Messi. Give the new lads a fuckin chance to get in the door before you start writing them off. This is the exact same snobbery we have to listen to from arseholes who support the plastic premier league in England.
This is the busiest transfer window I can remember and we still have people moaning about players they know nothin about.
Give them a fuckin chance!

You are 100% correct mate,IMO Viera has bought the laziest basket I have ever seen in a hoops jersey,he wont have his sorrow,s to seek as long as Eddy is there..

HH
Possibly Viera also being French will better understand Eddy to motivate him??? Anyway, he did some amazing things for us but it is clearly best for everyone that he has gone.

I hope he does well for the simple reason that the greater number of success stories from ex-Celtic players that move to England means we are more likely to get bigger bucks for future transfers.

I'm with you Deidner....this has been an outstanding window from us

You're right, I don't want Messi anymore. To me he's just greedy. He took a massive wage from Barcelona for years and then, when they reach the brink of bankruptcy and can't pay him the same any longer, he spills some crocodile tears and buggers off to PSG because they can (despite FFP rules supposedly being in place).

I can understand Stg, some been a bit annoyed with seeing money in the bank with uncertainty surrounding who has came in lately.
I look at it as being the foundations of a very strong squad has been created and for a number of years to come.
Very nice mix of experience and youth with still a number of younger players with the capability to step up to challenge for a 1st team squad place.
Think it can come down to trust in Ange in many ways, as haven't seen anything yet to question the quality of player that Ange has bought in so far, and been very impressed so far.

The funny thing is, I haven't read one comment tonight questioning what wages any of these lads are on. Just moaning. If we sign 5 they want 10, we sign more than that and yet they want more. Funny when Messi is mentioned he still wouldn't be enough regardless of wages which nobody seems to care about anyway!

I'm not annoyed
Sunday was annoyed
Losing a league to a pile of shite was annoying
You kinda hope it means as much to the 'supporters' with ties and you want them to show you what they're gonni do about it
Make a 25 million profit wasnt the answer I was looking for mate
That's all

What The Deadner said (y)
Big difference from last year so be happy
I worked with a guy who spent a $1 on a lottery ticket
He won $1000 (bought it at work on his break) he had 3 numbers up
Face on him like a sour puss, I said "Congrats, a grand, that'll come in handy"
He replied in a moany voice... "Yeah, but iI'd have had one more number I'd have won $500,000"
He was miserable for the rest of ths shift
A glass half empty, kinda thing
"Well, ye fucking didnae so suck it up buttercup !!!"

I hope that Ange can develop these players to be better. I have no doubts that there will be one or two "failures" from such a large batch of new players - most having to settle in a new country with crap weather and even worse referees!

i then hope Ange gets to use some of this money in January to bring in quality players in specific roles after properly assessing the squad so that we get a headstart for next season with a settled balanced squad instead of doing all our main business on 31st August 2022. I know such radical proper planning might never catch on at Parkhead but it is worth trying it just the once to see if this sensible approach might actually work for once.

Not a bad business model when you consider relying on CL is chasing moonbeams and when you can guarantee that your club will still be afloat should another lockdown occur then prudence has got to be admired, considering also what we have seen so far then the signs on the field also look not to bad, when you consider Mikey Johnson and Julien to come back then whats not to like.

At a total guess Deadner, I would say with all the new signings that the wage bill has been reduced by a fair amount and with far greater quality, plus they are ours.
With the amount of new signings, maybe 1 or 2 might not be a huge success but still say they will play a role in the success that's coming our way this season
