Brexit's Ramifications

Can't see it having any major affect on the game, freedom of movement is now part of the game & any major changes would adversely effect the British game in general. It won't make any difference in the amount of non EU players ie those that require work permits becauses that criteria won't change. It probably make it more difficult for fans travelling abroad, if the EU countries adopt a visa scheme to deal with GB passports.

wages might be a problem

1 criteria of being an eligible player might involve a certain wage
2 it may effect the ability of clubs to function outwit sky subsidy even more
3 economy might collapse in short term creating even more problems for clubs
4 cant be having special rules for footballers if Brexit main purpose is to curb inflow of non essential europeans

Sky subsidised clubs can offer massive wage, therefore it probably won't effect their ability to bring in higher quality essential footballers

But will Brechin be allowed to bring in Johnny pole?

If so why would Johnny poles services be problem in hotels?

Wonder what all this pish means furra fitbaw oan this island.........do yeez think that ra auld 3 foreigner rule will rear it's ugly head once more or will the fitbaw be immune to free movement in europe.
UK will not shoot their selfs in the foot there is a fortune in the game at present and the quality will not be allowed to be diluted and besides with no one to bring the game to boot the Government will be advising and helping money men to help themselves to the tax haven immunities that the ordinary punter will not be up to speed with.

Think TT is spot on, unlikely to have much effect on the game itself but it will become a nightmare for supporters who regularly go to European away fixtures as visas will be required to travel to the EU after Brexit.

Only changes for European players will be that they'll have to secure visas/work permits the same way non EU players do but it's unlikely they'll have any hassle securing them as the Tories cream themselves at the thought of high earners spending all their cash in the UK, it's just the low paid nurses, carers etc. from the EU that'll have the UK door slammed in their faces so the game will be ok but the NHS, social care sectors etc. will be royally fucked!

There's NO chance the UK Gov/Tories will knock back high earners from coming here and spending their vast sums of cash and there's not many higher earners than football players so that takes care of 1 & 4.

As for No.2 (no sniggering children) the earning threshold would likely only effect the smaller clubs who tend not sign too many foreigners anyway but even if they did then it maybe wouldn't be a bad thing for the game in general anyway as the smaller clubs would then have to play more homegrown talent.

No.3 would be the only real danger to the game, unfortunately it's the most likely thing that'll happen as Brexit is the masterplan of tax evaders and disaster capitalists, and since the latter are some of the biggest players in the Brexit con and make their profit from crashing economies an economic shock (hopefully not an all out collapse) is all but guaranteed. It won't be fatal to the game but it will have an affect in the same way it'll affect everything else.

I more concerned with what happens outside of the game because those within it are not really going to feel the pain of Brexit, the rest of us will.

I think your right Andy

but its the low paying clubs that will have issues which dilutes their options and its the smaller clubs that will potentially fall foul of the new system with potential economic problems from fans who might well be unable to support their team if major recession hits.

Without a functioning league or an even less functional league it could have serious knock on effect right through all clubs

And if our league system gets worse then the attraction to play in it even for Celtic goes down.

All hypothetical of course

But First thing tory government will do outside eu if economy dips is remove wage barriers and let the cheapest man do the job to attract investment

And we all know which section of society gets excluded from job market in recession

Scots generally but non British flag wavers first in Scotland.

So in other words, brexit is only for the poor people, all others will be able to make a living when and wherever the wish to do so..............mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

No I agree the knock on effect from fans being unable to financially support their clubs will no doubt have an affect on the game I just think that it will be mostly felt by the lower league clubs who rely more heavily on that particular revenue stream but at the higher professional level the various income streams clubs have will allow them to absorb the financial hit better.

For the professional clubs at least, outside fans maybe having to rein in their spending on merchandise etc. and finding it more difficult to travel to European fixtures, I think football will be unaffected by Brexit in the main.

That said if, god forbid, there IS an economic collapse then all bets are off and who knows where the fuck we'll be!

Exactly

Brexit is on a par with King and his concert party takin over sevco ,it's just that the deckchairs have changed and boris and his bollox have moved in

The boris models himself on churchill, how feckin ironic if his policies led tae an independent Scotland and a united Ireland!!!!!

Aye and no even the real one MD......turns oot it's the dug fae the insurance adverts! ;)

We can only pray that's what his policies lead to mate because what comes next for us if it doesn't is genuinely terrifying.
