  • Ewan Otoo (Dunfermline Athletic) - ?
  • Yosuke Ideguchi (Avispa Fukuoka) - Sell
  • Vasilis Barkas (FC Utrecht) - Sell
  • Tobi Oluwayemi (Cork City) - ?
  • Osaze Urhoghide (KV Oostende) - ?

  • Mikey Johnston (Vitória de Guimaraes) - ?
  • Johnny Kenny (Shamrock Rovers) - ?
Who would you definitively want to keep and who would you want to move on?

I think Scales would be a good squad player. He has had a decent season at Aberdeen and would provide cover at the back.

He also knows the score, and what it means to be a Celtic player, as well as having a bit of physicality which we currently lack at times.

I’m not sure how Adam Montgomery has gone at St Johnstone or any of the rest of those listed. Any thoughts?

Nope punt them aw, none are good enough, none have set the Heather oan fire during their loan spells, none are better than the players in possession of the jersey, we NEED better players than the ones we have got…..always look forward not back, this pish people saying about being a good back up player….nonsense, we need players to be putting pressure on the ones already playing in the 1st team🤷‍♂️

Calmac blows your theory out the water mate I'm afraid, players can go on loan and mature into the type of person we need... Scales out of that list would be the obvious choice, however Montgomery could perhaps do with a loan out to a better team than for another season.. Still have hopes for him, most of the rest yeah can go, but I've a feeling that Mikey and J Kenny will make it elsewhere..

Pish mate, calmac had an EXCEPTIONAL loan period with notts county, the following is taken from cal Mac’s Wikipedia……kinda blows yir theory oot the water, as I said NONE of the players on loan have made ANY impact with their loan club’s, they are all, lawwell’s “legacy” signing….ie , buy 30 promising kids , and hope one turns up good 🤷‍♂️

McGregor joined English League One club Notts County on a five-month loan in August 2013. Among his teammates that season was fellow loanee midfielder Jack Grealish, a future England international. He scored on his debut for the "Magpies" on 7 August, in a 3–2 win over Fleetwood Town at Meadow Lane in the first round of the League Cup. Following a man of the match appearance against Crewe Alexandra where McGregor netted two goals, Notts County boss Chris Kiwomya challenged McGregor to reach 10 goals for the season in his loan spell.

McGregor played the full match in a memorable League Cup encounter for the club, facing off against a Liverpool side which featured future Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling, and Daniel Sturridge, as well as being managed by his future Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers. County fought back from two goals down to bring the game to extra time, going on to lose the game 4-2.

McGregor's loan expired at the start of January 2014, with his 12 goals in all competitions making him the current top scorer for Notts County at that stage. Kiwomya's successor, Shaun Derry, described his departure as causing a sense of disappointment in the squad.

Following the expiry of his loan in January, clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers were credited with an interest in McGregor. After missing three games while waiting for negotiations to conclude, it was confirmed on 24 January 2014 that McGregor's loan had been extended until the end of the season. McGregor was put straight to the Notts County squad for their game against Walsall and marked his return with a goal, a 25-yard free kick into the top left corner.

McGregor ended the season with 14 goals in all competitions and as the club's top goalscorer. Shaun Derry has since praised McGregor's attitude, describing him as "brilliant to work with", and felt that the club would not have avoided relegation that season had it not been for the efforts of McGregor and Grealish. McGregor credits the loan spell for allowing him to develop as a player and learn the game, and felt that being involved in a relegation battle where his teammate's livelihoods were on the line caused him to "grow up a bit".

That’s an EXAMPLE of an exceptional loan period, 14 goals, from midfield, clubs top goal scorer, the cream ALWAYS rises to the top…..the shite always sinks to the bottom or signs for…..
Sturm Graz, Aberdeen, FC Arouca, Dunfermline Athletic, Avispa Fukuoka, FC Utrecht, Cork City, KV Oostende, St Johnstone, Morecambe FC, Vitória de Guimaraes, Shamrock Rovers🤷‍♂️

I am well aware of how Calmac got on, I was more commenting on your comment about dont look back always look forward, if we had done that we wouldn't have brought Calmac back again..

Liam Scales had made an impact at the sheep as has Mikey out in Portugal... Even Barkas his team are desperate for Celtic to lower the price as he's been outstanding for his team... And dont forget the balls up with Jack Henry's loan in Belgium... Now none I would wager would go on to be another Calmac, but they all blow your theory to bits mate, players can come back and just because we loan them out doesn't mean thats the end for them, your overall generalised view of loan players is imho wrong... Certainly they wont all come back if any, but it can happen...

  • Albian Ajeti (Sturm Graz) - Sell
  • Liam Scales (Aberdeen) - Sell
  • Ismaila Soro: FC Arouca. - Sell
  • Ewan Otoo (Dunfermline Athletic) - still young, another season on loan
  • Yosuke Ideguchi (Avispa Fukuoka) - Sell
  • Vasilis Barkas (FC Utrecht) - Sell
  • Tobi Oluwayemi (Cork City) - see Otoo
  • Osaze Urhoghide (KV Oostende) - Sell
  • Adam Montgomery: St Johnstone - Return, give him pre season and decide in August
  • Liam Shaw: Morecambe FC - Sell
  • Mikey Johnston (Vitória de Guimaraes) - Sell. If he could play on the right then there could be an argument to keep him through pre season and see how he does but we are overloaded on left sided attackers/wingers
  • Johnny Kenny (Shamrock Rovers) - Sell
Montgomery has had a good season at St Johnstone, their supporters would like to keep him but are resigned to losing him. He was runner-up in the Scottish Writers YPOTY and must be as good an option as back up LB to Taylor as Bernabei. He is more suited to playing the Ange style of inverted wing backs and is a better passer than Bernabei. Give him July & August with the first team squad to prove himself. Would also count as an Academy player for euro squads.
