Agree with UGs analysis fuck the SFA and the corrupt way they try to Appease the Scummy 7 year olds. Put out an under 17 team in both comps and save the players another 60 plus Season and empty the coffers of the Hangers on.

I agree. we should use the cups to blend in the young players and give the main players a few less games to play. To keep chasing trebles puts to much pressure on all players. you have to win just about every game and the players don't get any breaks. ( stop chasing trebles! I never thought I would ever say such a thing)

Only trouble with that is that
It can only work for the early rounds, when it gets to quarter semi finals stages and we're playing Aberdeen we need to be at our best to beat them because aberdeen are showing why they have been and still are no2 in Scotland,, the league i believe will show that again at the end they drew at CP best result for any side we have to be at our best to beat them HH

HH Winter .. the point in the original post is once we have the historical TT done , our main objective should be financial dominance .. and belittle the cup competitions . Winning the league and getting to the group stages of the CL should be paramount . Loosing important players to injury in domestic Cup Comps should be something we don’t have to consider.

I believe it looks likely that McLeish will receive a payoff due to ill health , so he can settle his EBT , about £750k of hard earned cash from poor supporters will be gifted to clear the ginger alkies debt .

I would tentatively suggest that that kind of thinking is a bit short-termy. If I understand the OP, (not a given) he's willing to sacrifice the odd cup at the altar of bringing the young/under used much needed and necessary game time. I for one wholeheartedly agree and wish to subscribe to his newsletter! ?

I've been saying this for years....success for Celtic is only by winning the league and/or getting to the group stages in Europe. If we only won the two domestic cups the it would be rightly regarded as a failure season. We have a large squad use the fringe players and best of the youths in ALL domestic cup comps.

Best figures I could find was approx £3m for winning the league .
From a few years ago , according to the Daily Rectum ...

Some gate receipts would be added to this .

No doubt the league cup will be less .

It really makes no sense to risk our better players to injury , and give development players the chance to prove themselves .

In terms of importance , the four qualifiers to the group stages are on par with winning the League .
