Strange Loyalties

In the relative backwater which is Scottish football, there appears to be a number of incumbent individuals who have held, or are currently holding, office at clubs, who appear to have divided and strange Loyalties.

It is not a new phenomenon, back in the annuls of time, the two Glasgow giants were "closed shop, members only" organisations; therefore - many potential wealthy investors had to get their egos massaged by investing in other, more provincial, clubs.

Many of these conflicted persons came to love their new playthings and helped to finance these provincial clubs to partially compete with the big boys.

However - when push came to shove, these provincial clubs would buckle under pressure, or so it seemed, particularly when they went to Ibrox in a crucial 4-6 pointer.

Perhaps the weight of expectation burdened them. Perhaps the referee's natural inclinations betrayed them. Perhaps the conflicted investors instructed them.

Who knows.........?

Football is a strange business. The norms of modern business are not always adhered to. Otherwise sound businessmen/women make investments in resources, that they would never dare to make in their specialised fields of expertise - yet football makes them dizzy with excitement.

I mean, would it seem rational that a once major investor in a satellite club, say like Motherwell, for instance - would make a significant investment in a new, fledgling, permanently loss-making club who are trying to make a name for themselves by emulating the worst characteristics of a dead dinosaur which gorged itself to death?

It wouldn't make sense in terms of capital gain to make an investment which could potentially never have a positive return.

Apart from an obvious conflict of interest and an overtly strange loyalty dilemma, surely such a thing would cause concern among the ruling bodies of Scottish football who are apparently invested in having a level playing field for their member clubs?

Many wise folk have questioned and investigated such strange uncanny coincidences recently.

In another, unrelated, matter - one might conclude that a series of reports which began emerging on Friday evening from Edinburgh might possibly be seen to be one prominent individual almost performing a live audition for a future posting with the notorious bigots, he/she idolises.

Strange Loyalties indeed........

Curiouser and curiouser

Be interesting to keep a long-term eye on that particular scenario to see if anything transpires

As we are all aware NITHING appears to be out of bounds in HUNSVILLE

And if a certain Club Chairman from the Leith are was to become Head Honcho at the SFA as is his ambition then that would be a feather in SEVCO's number presuming they are still around of course

I find it curious, Bill.

Movement and transfers have been a part of football since year dot, but that generally extends to the players, managers, coaching staff, and other non-executive members.

I guess with the influx of new money, it's perhaps understandable that the days off lifelong supporting board members are going to be a thing of the past; however - that influx of money hasn't found its way to Scotland in any great amount, so it strikes me as a wee bit peculiar that there would appear to be a will for some investors to take their stake from a reasonably stable operation and invest it in a sinking ship.

Unless that is, they know something that the rest of the world is oblivious to.

It might be something to do with off-shore Bahamian bank accounts, but what do I know?

Probably more than I do ?

It's stage 1 in the self-fulfilling prophecy. It's also the absolute pride etched on the grim features of mum/grandma in the background.

Millwall have tried more than most to re-educate their fans......They're pretty much just pissing in the wind.

Aw man.......the brexit generation in all its unsavoury indignity.

Where's social services when you need them?

Typicl of the fuzz's attitude on the subject though. That's the future Chief Constable of the Met right there.
