SVIATCHENKO RETURN ?

Would be a player I would welcome back especially in such a fragile position we have struggled in as regards he should settle in very quickly.
Just think we might be looking for more younger players in general, but a bit of experience with also be needed so a yes from me

To be fair, he's 29 and most centre Half's get better with age 👍....but it's a no from me

I always thought Erik got a rough deal from Rodgers. He was punished for a mistake against the Zombies while Boyata seemed to get away with mistake after mistake after mistake. He was less athletic than some centre backs but he was clever and played with heart.

Given our situation, if he's available for a decent fee then it would be a good idea as a short-term fix.

Unless he has grown a few inches and gained a yard of speed then no thanks. A defensive pair of him and Jullien would be a nightmare against any team with pace.
Think Julian could grow into a player this season agree we need a strong defender to stand along side him, to my mind we need a box centre half to control the defence coupled with box to box midfielders playing for the team rather than themselves,Celtic always had fast wingers who could beat players and get the ball into the box and didn’t we miss James F last season, pretty passing is all very well but it does not get the goals , attack has always been the strongest form of defence but most of all we want players who want to play as and for the team

Agreed, a squad needs to be formed which allows for player rotation and competition for places, not saying he would be an automatic starter but still thinks he would offer us far more than Bitton at present

Kind of agree with you on the height thing Gary, but I thought he read the game well and was a more than decent defender. Out and out CH? No !

A good centre back is all about positional sense, experience, courage and leadership qualities.

See Italy's Chellini for all those. Pace is a bonus. Height too; Greatest central defensive Don ever, Franco Baresi, appeared more like a diminutive cosa nostra hitman than footballing God.

The Snake ditched Sviatchenko for non-footballing reasons; I always suspected a personality clash. If you require any proof of the alacrity and suspiciously contrarian reasoning behind that decision, look at the replacement he 'found' - Martin Comper. Fuck me. "Is your steak not quite to your liking, Sir? Well, here's a fucking Macdonalds Happy Meal instead..."

So, as a tried and tested and ready to go addition to our defense, I'd take big Erik back without a second thought. For all his cons, the added pros of drive, committment to the cause and love for the club trump everything else.

I always thought the same, I suspected jealousy at the time (wives). The decision to sign Comperr will baffle me til the end of time, or just my lifetime, which ever comes first. ;)

100%
He got a raw deal from BR, he should never have been allowed to leave
He always gave his all and has positional sense
His experience back in his homeland where he helped them to the title will help the young guys at our club
It's a yes from me, if the deal can be done, even if it's jist for the coming season

Aye, the boy lacked pace and height, but he loved defending and he was also a threat at set-pieces (in spite of his physical limitations).

He reminded me of Thomas Rogne who also got a bit of a bum steer. He was raw, but there was something to work with there and he pretty much got discarded too.

It says a lot for Erik to remember Celtic so fondly after he got second-class treatment for one pretty bad game (which we still won). I'd have him back in a heartbeat and way before any mercenaries who want to raise their profile and turn a quick buck.
