Celtic v Rosenborg, Thursday 8pm - Pre Match Thread

Worryingly the big question is will this be a game that the team fancies, if they do we should win.

Within ten minutes we'll know whether the team is up for it or in 'St Mirren mode'.
They need tae pull the finger out there arse Brendan anaw cos any more games in st Mirren mode and this season is gawny be long

The way we are playing, lost three of our better players, made a roaring cunt of the qualifiers, lost to Hearts, drew with newly promoted Saints. Where the fuck is the super confidence coming from?

Boy did I pick the wrong week to give up glue. :)

What super confidence? You must have learnt how to read with a weird method, dude.

Great to have such a positive outlook

In all honesty I don't believe we are as weak as we look right now. This is almost the same team that won the treble last year and reached the EL knockout phase. We've got to get better, eventually. Hopefully we start today.

But I don't get why some want to sugarcoat it: if we don't win against Rosenborg at home, it'll be a very uphill climb if we are to reach the knockout again. Our away record in Europe is dismal. We need the Paradise points. It's simpler than that, even: we need the confidence shot so that we can start to perform in the league again. We all know the circumstances don't allow for a great European run, unless we're very very lucky. But short term we need the morale boost, and long term we need to improve our coefficient.

I honestly don't get this 3 at the back starting formation nonsense. If KT playes and any team sits back he is always pushed up higher? As long as we keep shape and cover and move I honestly don't see the difference. I've seen lustig and kt high with other players dropping into keep the shape. Lustig now should calm it and play deeper. It hasn't always been the system we played it's been errors that have done us in. Few moments of good football. It happens. What is the formation when we try to break down the parked bus. 1-3-7-0

I always thought 3 at the back was something we adapted to during games when called for. Against St Mirren, we were cut open during the first 20 min and could have been 2 down ... we were abysmal.

Players need to up the tempo from the off. Midfield needs to sort themselves out and find space. Rogic has been a virtual passenger for 90 min a game.

Strikers need to make runs to create passing chances. No creativity. When wingers are making crosses get into the feckin' box. Midfield should be prepared for a pass and pass quickly, not pass back so it ends up with Gordon who then kicks it out of play.

Do you not think that the manager is awere of the problems from the last few games I am sure he will be doing his best to put it right after all he has quite a good record

Jeez, why did I not think if that? ?

Sort of thought it was okay to give opinions on how to improve things ... from an amature sleuth perspective on the joys of coaching (See my 'Coaching Soccer by a Dummy': 1st Edition).

FFS, I've read some dummy spitting posts in my time but that tops the lot!!!

None of this slow passing between defenders build-up shite. Go for the jugular from KO . Nothing less than a win tonight Bhoys!!

Digger?

Someone giving opinions again!!!

Brendan got it covered?

(Supposed to be funny, never sure what way it comes across written down!) ?

Predictions please for our game and their match v Villarreal...if you get both right we'll throw in some prizes!

Celtic 3 Rosenborg 1
Villareal 3 The Rangers 0

I'll go for 3-1 as well. Is Hendry starting?

Huns to lose 2-1 although real score should be about 5-0.
