We all know we have lost our attacking speed of movement and finishing ability. Rodgers mentioned this and stated we may not return to that this whole season. He cited, correctly, the loss of three class players who all played a part in this.
If anybody thought we as a squad could afford to lose Paddy, Moussa and Armstrong and not suffer as a consequence, then I pity the fools.
We have done what Celtic have always done in my lifetime supporting our team. When we are in a position of strength we shite it. We blink and it usually costs us dearly. It happened once again, on the back of an historic double treble we stalled. We missed out on a true Celt like McGinn, over less of a fee we spent on Kouassi. For me that was unforgivable on Lawells part.
We embarked upon the road to a £60m CL payday by not bringing in defenders dugs in the street knew we needed. Result? Three defensive balls ups sealed our fate. Again, for me, unforgivable negligence on Lawell's part.
We are now we’re we are. My view is we need to ensure we keep ahead until January and hopefully Lawell will deliver the quality we need to push on for 8 in a row. If we don’t change our set up, Morgan and Arzani and even Malumbu, then we will stagnate. Without real competition players get comfortable and I think Forrest, McGreggor and Rogic need a rocket up their arses to focus the mind to up their performances.
Leigh needs to realise that shouting he is the No 1 needs to be backed up with goals every game. He has been off it too.
We showed Sevco we are still top dog. But we should have horsed them. We didn’t and that worried me. They were outplayed by Villa but managed a draw and could have won it. They could do the same to us if we fail to put chances away.
The shambles that was our transfer window cannot he repeated in January. On current form we have no chance of getting out of our EL group. To be embarking on that campaign weaker than last year, is totally incompetent on the boards part.
I read on abither site that Rogers, Lawell and Desmond met in Dublin during the international break to discuss what went wrong in the transfer window. Trying all of it as a starter for 10 would be my baseline.
It was negligence. I hope when they had a wee huddle at the end of it, they agreed to have a go. To fight. We have money, spending it on quality players enables us to earn more money. Then they can be sold on for profit.
I think introducing Morgan and the other lads can give us a lift. If we get that then we could qualify and be stronger after the break to set us up for the CL qualifying stages. If we don’t then heads on the board will need to roll.
Hopefully lessons, expensive lessons, have been learned.
Let’s hope today at Killie we step up to how we can play. We can’t afford to lose any more points. It was interesting to see St Mirren getting humped by Hamilton yesterday. Showing clearly how utter pish that performance of ours was.
We need to step up and we need that to start today.
