Ange and Spurs

What puzzles me is ...a 12 month rolling contract ? Sure , when appointing Ange initially , not knowing if he would be a success , that is good business sense .
BUT ...after last season's immense success why did the Board not throw the chequebook at Ange and offer him as long a contract ( with bonuses etc...) as he wanted ?
Or did it not occur to the Board that a successful stint at a high profile club like Celtic might attract suitors from the money-tainted league to the south ?
Or was an offer of long term employment made and knocked back ?
Puzzlement all round !

HH
when Ange made the statement in a presser a few weeks back ,,,''you'd be surprised at how long i'm going to be here '' ,,, i took it the board were offering him a long term contract and he would be signing it , that was my reading of it
it made sense after the first season we had and the transfers we had brought in

I've thought all along he was staying, but after yesterday, I think he's gonna go and see what spurs have to offer and if it's not up to his liking he'll stay at celtic. I would rather if he wants to go then away ye go.
I was brought up that when you give your word you stick to it, otherwise you're only another bullshitter and if he leaves then that's what he is.
I don't think that the spurs job is a done deal. Many managers have turned it down on account of levy meddling in the team, which is something ange won't accept.
Yesterday should have been a major celebration, but it felt more like a wake.

I suspect he has a tough decision to make but has not made his mind up at this stage. He may or may not be at the apex of his career.
Option 1. Join Spurs and and bring Kyogo with him for about 30M Take over a squad that doubts him and an owner prepared to sack him after a few losses. If he does well then his rating will increase. Spurs could be a stepping stone to greatness. If he does badly then he gets sacked. He would be paid 5-10 times more.
Option 2 Carry on with Celtic and play in the CL group stages and hope we can improve even more and progress. He would need to sign about 4 players that are better. We would need another top striker and we could improve in midfield and central defence and a goalkeeper. We are the best team in Scotland and this should persist

Tough decision and so many factors to consider.

"I'm going to be a little bit selfish,"
"People around me have all worked hard to enjoy this moment, so that's what I'm going to do. I will enjoy it for as long as I can before people drag me away to talk about other things."
"Because I think I deserve to enjoy this moment just like everyone else. I worked really hard for this moment.
"I owe it to my friends and to my family. I get why you have to ask the question, but from my perspective, I deserve to enjoy this moment.
"There will be a time to come for those kinds of questions but for now, we've grasped a small chunk of history for ourselves and I'm not going to pass that by by being side tracked." - Ange Postecoglou

BBC spun this as 'Ange Postecoglou coy on Celtic future after Scottish Cup triumph and domestic treble'
I've also seen such spin as 'Ange refuses to commit to Celtic' etc.

If you look at what Ange actually said he is politely asking the reporter to fuck off and let him enjoy the moment. Nothing more nothing less.

As regards the rolling contract we've seen that in the past with Lennon but Ange is no Lennon and if the rolling contract was the club's decision then everyone involved in that decision should be sacked. It may however, have been Ange's decision to keep his options open. We might never know. But regardless, Ange's rolling contract should be about to expire and you'd expect there will be or are negotiations. Ball very firmly in Celtic's court; make him an offer he can't refuse.

I’m now thinking he away, watched the bbc interview after the game this morning, he said …..
“I’ve loved every minute of it”…..not I’m loving every minute,
Speaking about us in the past tense, I’m afraid to say he’s gone,

next questions, who should the next manager be, not anyone in house, Kennedy or alfonso, or even broony coming back, we need an experienced manager,

If/when he goes….who does he take with him, CCV, kyogo, Hatate,?
we can’t keep want away players against their will get them punted for to money, one of the red top rags were already saying spurs have targeted kyogo along with ange for £30 million which would seem a fair price

Anybody any thoughts

Martin O’Neil started the rolling contract option, every manager since then has had it pushed on them🤷‍♂️

Spurs players managed to get rid of some really good managers at the club ,didn't expect Conte to fail ,then when you throw in Levy it's a toxic club

Even know reading through the spurs blogs ,spurs are buying in players without a manager ,,,no wonder there fecked

Top of the world in Scotland or mid-table mediocrity in England.
Guaranteed adoration from the best fan base in the world or an English fan base which may never embrace him to such an extent.
Ange is 57 with a relatively-young family. He will be conscious of the media perceptions they will increasingly be aware of. He's also at or approaching the final stage of his career. With such a young family I wouldn't expect him to be working beyond retirement age if even to that point so I'd think he has less than 10 working years in mind.
So he could gamble on a big payday to enhance his retirement options or he could choose the financial and emotional security that he cannot be anywhere as sure of anywhere else and the assurance that his name will go down in history as a winner and legend.
Celtic need to make the decision easy for him. A contract offer worthy of a manager of his calibre which will make him financially secure and with a commitment to invest in European progress.
Over to you Celtic Board.

Think everyone should just take a wee breath and maybe stop reading too much into what is basically ragtop rumor and speculation being churned out by people who essentially know the sum total of fuck all about what's really going on.

As for Ange's demeanor and what he said yesterday...remember the guy had just won his first treble as a manager and broke a world football record in the process...all that must be pretty overwhelming for a manager who has never achieved that level of success before and was (as he said himself) mocked and labelled a joke on his arrival on these shores. Damn right he should be allowed to savour the moment and not let all this noise get in the way of that.

What I heard yesterday was an emotional guy who had just achieved something momentous and unprecedented in his professional life ask for people to let him enjoy the moment. A guy who spoke with raw emotion of how even when 'the world was mocking his appointment the fans of this club put their arms around him and declared they had his back because he was now one of ours.' If you ask me Ange is the type of guy who knows no amount of money or shiny EPL bobbles can buy that that's why I believe he'll still be in the Paradise dugout next season.

As for Statler and Waldorf's (DD & PL) faces yesterday....well Ange now has these 2 at a major disadvantage and they know it! They know how the fans feel about Ange, they know his stock is rising as a manager and they know if they want to keep hold of him and the fans onside they need to back his vision which means making assurances about transfer budgets and going after his top targets! And we all know how these 2 define success (on the balance sheet) and HATE not being in control of everything around them.

What is it we always say...KEEP THE FAITH!!!

If the big man decides to go then so be it!!my worry is who follows?they pair a cheapskate cunts lawell and dermot sitting up the stand yesterday way there sour faces, wouldn’t a thot we just created history”again”,,,naw their brains are planning the next rollercoaster ride for us,,,season ticket money already in the satchel, they might feel they can gamble a bit…a no it’s just coincidence but when that cunt lawell reappeared like bobby Ewing ma nerves went into overdrive..like a say maybe just coincidence 🤨
Unhappiest looking pair of directors of a football club that's just made history I've ever seen, they know they struck lucky with Ange but now they might need to find a successor. That's the job bhoys, you are responsible for the big decisions,so let's get it right

I agree, seemed very flat.Hard to celebrate when you know there's possibly gonna be disruption at the club with managers&players going. The club are bigger than anyone, let's not forget that

You may be right and a lot of what you say is what I originally thought, but after yesterday and his demeanour after the game and then his press conference, he spoke in past tense about his time at the club. But I hope like everyone else on here that you are right. One things for for sure someone on here has hit the nail on the head.

Another thing to bare in mind is Ange's family. They look like school-age kids so will just about have settled into life in Scotland at this stage and will have mates at school and in their neighbourhood.
The prospect of upending their lives again, so soon after they've settled in, may also be a factor in his thinking. Ange doesn't strike me as someone who would take such considerations lightly.

Mibbies their new manager is well aware of these new signings…

For me, the whole shine was taken off yesterday due to the uncertainty....if he does go which does now seem likely, why didn't it get sorted out before this game...be transparent and say something either way...if it was his last game in charge yesterday and we had known it was, then I'm sure we would all have enjoyed yesterdays achievement all the more....This whole situation sucks boaby big time and has certainly dampened the season ( for me)...pretty sure there are loads more who felt the same when they woke up today
