Celtic player you wish you'd seen wearing the Hoops

I think I recall Radio Clyde running a competition for the first to 30 goals in a season back then and Charlie Nicholas having it wrapped up by about Christmas. Now he's just a charlie.
Charlie really was unplayable at that time.

I also remember him stepping up and scoring a penalty against us for Aberdeen in the cup final shoot-out. Everyone knew he was re-signing for us but he was professional enough to score, knowing that if he missed it he'd be ridiculed forever for doing a screwjob on the mutton molestors (obviously the ridicule followed later for his farcical behaviour). I was gutted but also admired him for having the balls the score the pen.

I remember him being substituted in a game against the mutton molestors (hahaha,,, great name for them) when he played for them and the Celtic fans were chanting "Charlie! Charlie!! (in a good way) because we needed someone who could score for us at that time.

Funny how the years roll by MD soon the new generation will be wishing they had seen McStay, Nicholas,McAvennie, in the flesh to name but a few. I could never adjust to the black and white footage of the old troops 7-1 etc, and now my kids cannot adjust to the square colour images of 80,90s football they identify with HD, what will be the future when their kids struggle with their HD of old.
