do you think the police in Scotland are anti catholic or anti Irish?I genuinely don’t think that’s the case but I think the way the police handle some football fans is a disgrace but also sometimes the fans let them selfs down too even our fans do it too…most rangers fans don’t have a slight clue about religion so take the anti catholic carry on with a pinch of salt and many members of the fenians (IRB) where Protestant so that just shows the intelligence of that mob….your right tho about the old rangers board etc fuck them but I still think Celtic fans deserve to go to ibrox (we said no to 800) so I think this is probably the best we could have got tbh …some fans want it back to 7000 some want this and some want 0 and no one is right or wrong but just different opinions as you have said mate

Good post and sentiment however I still maintain that the atmosphere and relationship (sic) with them as poisonous as it is, makes this game special...all the great derbies in football throughout the world have an edge to them...most are banal affairs but ours, like it or not was built on hatred and intolerance.. every superhero needs a villain so to speak.... If they went out of existence and Without our special rivalry with them, we would win the league ever year, our attendances would plummet as people would just not be interested going to games.
This is the reality that deep down we all know but don't like to admit as it's not the party line..

No denying they are scum, no denying they are a deplorable support but ask yourselves where Scottish football and us would be without them?? Look across the Irish sea and that league for your answer

I’m not having a go and talking down to you and I’m glad that you don’t feel or see that there is a bias but it wasn’t that long ago Catholics found it hard to get anywhere in the police or get jobs. I admit it’s definitely not as bad as it was but it is still there.

A have to agree way tommybhoy on this subject,I’m probably a lot older than tommybhoy so as you older guys know you kinda been seen done it attitude?,but when a derby against that mob was approaching a was excited for weeks in the run up to it,phoning guys trying to source briefs,making arrangements way mates you hadn’t seen in yonks ,,buzzed oot ma box…the atmosphere on the day was always electric,we win its lift off..we lose its couple a scoops then hame way a curry early!!!my boys probably same age bracket as tommybhoy and is so looking forward to getting to ibrox next seaso,who am I to say these young dudes don’t get to enjoy that buzz win lose or draw it’s a unique occasion,,,,and a can assure fans ma bhoy will make enuff noise to cover for ten supporters 🍀🍀let the people sing🍀🍀🍀🥰🥰🥰

My family had a business in Glasgow and our surname is a particularly "Fenian" sounding one... every time a walk was due to pass, my dad had to shut his shop and pull down the shutters for fear of safety...the fuckers used to stop their march outside the shop and give him a special rendition....it's experiences like this that groomed my hatred against them... that and being asked what school I went to

Agree way your post mate100%,,but the reason if a walk that was anti= Muslim,black,or Jew “would most definitely be called out”is because catholics in Scotland and Glasgow in particular have sat on their arses and done absolutely fuckall about it,,,zero,,nada,,whereas the other minority’s would be out there on mass…
At one point in time Glasgow council and lord provosts where Irish catholic mainly!!

My family ran a Celtic bar next to the old bellgrove hotel on the gallowgate area and some of the police could be cunts and would constantly come in and want the music off etc but to say the police in general in Scotland are anti Irish or catholic is not true tho in my eyes

Alot of my family still stay in cork and my step dad has told me about jobs (scaffolding jobs he couldn’t get because of his surname back in the day in glasgow and also the west coast) he would agree with your post and not mine 😂)but it’s 2024 and things change ….half these bigoted cunts couldn’t spell Protestant or catholic and only go to church on a wedding or funeral …my family are mixed tho my mums and step dads side Irish background cork and obv Donegal …other side rangers so my views are slightly different to most as I know plenty of rangers fans who are not bigots or loyalist just like I know plenty of Celtic men who are not catholic or republican (been republican is not bigoted of course) some people think fenian is catholic and that’s just false as the fenian movement had large percentage of Protestants….respect your reply legend07 ☘️no hard feelings ☘️

I had a sevco supporting work colleague from Stranraer - he was a good lad and up for the banter, all good fun. He was telling me that he had some pals from back home who drove from Stranraer to join in their celebrations/rioting in George Square during the middle of the pandemic. And they were both police officers!!! Not only were the hordes escorted by the polis (who were delighted to pose for photos with the groups of pissed up fans), but they were also part of the participants too. My pal has since left us and joined the police!

I appreciate that there is a lot of anti-catholic and anti-Irish sentiment, although being neither I have never experienced or even witnessed it. However, I do not agree that it is the whole country where sectarianism and bigotry is the norm. It is undoubtedly still a massive issue in the west of Scotland that fortunately this does not blight the whole country. Yes, there will be pockets of bigotry or individuals or groups who celebrate their staunchness and I'm sure you could say you know people from these parts who are bigots, but for the most part they are in the minority in a lot of areas and it isn't a problem I've heard of from any catholic pals I know anywhere I've lived.

I do find it disgusting that this bigotry is still is still allowed to continue to this day in a so-called civilised society. It was only a couple of weeks ago that a huge public outcry managed to get an Orange Walk cancelled in Stonehaven, as pretty much no-one wanted this shite introduced into this part of the country, as the knuckle-draggers wanted a big day out somewhere new for their sickening sashbash.
