A fine night for Irish soccer

What a great night for Ireland last night with Sligo Rovers and Inchicore's finest, St Patrick's Athletic advancing in the Europa Conference. Enjoy these magnificent Fenians celebrating in style; Up The Pats!

Shamrock rovers should at the very least be into the play off rounds in the conference at the very least.
Big ask for pats and sligo to advance beyond the next round but not impossible either.
Like I said before 26, Irish teams need to hopefully start progressing into these group stages of European competition on a more regular basis to help the game grow moreso within Ireland, much the same reasons for Scottish teams, where your hoping the extra income can be invested into improving the overall standard of the league, still remaining a failure still sadly at the moment.

Great to see Irish clubs get a chance at extra revenue as they will always be limited by ground capacity and localised support.

Haven't got any links to any Irish team 26, yet like to see them do well in European competition all the same.
The football sadly remains dire imo, and that can include Galway United also, who are professional now.
The game is struggling so much outside of Dublin with the influence of the GAA remaining so strong still.
Can't really ever see that changing either, as like most things the money just isn't in the sport

Apparently the FAI and IFA have agreed to an All Ireland League and I think this will be a very positive initiative.

I think this would be huge for Irish soccer as it could revolutionise the sport in the country. Firstly it would greatly improve the competitiveness of the league and ultimately generate a lot more revenue.
Northern nationalists don't generally support their home town teams in the IFA league. I wouldn't have met 100 nationalists in my life who follow 6 county soccer and they're all Cliftonville supporters. A home town team in an All Ireland League would be an entirely different matter.
I've worked with people from the unionist community who coached soccer and were soccer parents etc and I admired the dedication and sacrifice of free time they put into it. Northern teams would maybe even have an advantage in that their support base doesn't lose many potential players to the GAA. :ROFLMAO:
In my day we never played soccer during PE, not even indoor soccer by school policy and that was across the board. I would be surprised if that has changed much. Protestant schools don't teach GAA and Catholic schools don't teach soccer. Integrated schools teach both. Nationalists who have ever played soccer beyond kickabout level are very much a minority.
Things are changing now as kids socialise more and more and barriers are broken down. Increasing numbers of Protestant kids are joining GAA clubs and Catholics are joining rugby clubs but an interest in local soccer will only ever come about within an All Ireland League.

Maybe 26, still think that the shamrock rovers and linfield connection is not going to help matters sadly, and that may well apply to any team that shower of scum stand to face from the Republic imo.
Of course these barriers will need to be bought down for any united lreland to ever succeed, but plenty of trouble in store for the early stages imo, but hopefully can succeed on the bigger picture for Irish football as agree with yourself 26 in term's of improving standards overall

I think the Gardaí would relish the regular training opportunities and consistent disorder would put greater pressure on the crown forces to curb their minions.

Good point 26, and wouldn't have to many issues with a United football league within Ireland, as long as you northern bhoys don't infest us all with your "puke" football again 😂😂

What are 'The English' good at? Apart from being cunts?
I'm only joking, i've lived amoungst them for years. Not down south, they are a different breed, but Northeners are a good crowd.
Some have tried to settle in scotland through Marrige and what not, but the tales they told me of being hounded and ignored by fucking yokels in some places just because they were English is disgusting.
I hear some of the same sentiments on here sometimes an it makes me cringe.

Not to sure about that Brim, in my experience most English escapees are given a good welcome in most parts of Scotland.
It is only when their pre- conception that we are all thick as fuck and they feel the need to explain the way we should be thinking the welcome wears thin

The top teams in the LOI are easily a match for any team in the SPFL from third place down. It is an insult to the league to portray them as minnows and be shocked at this result. I wasn't. But that's the brain dead Scottish media for you.

It doesn't help the LOI that all their best and promising players are playing outwith the country either.
Well done St Pat's, going to be difficult to get past CSKA Sofia but never know 🤞🏻
