The PPE shortage has shown succesive UK governments failure ( for years) in investment in the country's home industry and infrastructure, relying instead on cheap Asian sweat box labour imports. Over reliance upon the financial services sector is now (again) blowing up in their faces. Youd think that they'd learn from past mega-mistakes but not this , or any government. The lockdown (which is a government cover to minimise NHS funding, will it save lives though?) It will save the NHS from an influx yes but we could all have it right now and not know anyway. Next thing I expect to see is the lockdown phased out too early as the government buckle to corporate pressure, workers will be sent back to work , probably whilst the NHS is still short of PPE supply. We are seeing it now in the USA and France. People will only tolerate so much especially in the fractured country that is todays UK. This United kingdom has never been so divided since its inception. In the states you have people demonstrating against the lockdown whilst others are demonstrating for PPE for frontline workers. In France, Macron is suggesting that schools should reopen in May (a subtle way to get parents back to work). So far the people (no genetic connection to 'duh peepull ' ) have behaved impeccably (all things considered) with some exceptions of course. This is possibly the most inept cabinet I've ever seen, they should tread very carefully.
