Cinderella Story.
--------------------

Countless ships of heads and faces,
Steaming up the Broomielaw
Into Greenock and Port Glasgow
The starving Irish came ashore

No pledge to shelter our huddled masses
No lady lies waiting in the bay
Hunger is a great force for keeping down our wages
We're hungry enough to take any pay

Factory workers, potato pickers
Down that pit, or on your way
Low sanitation, and worse ventilation
Twenty one to a room, and fifteen hour day

We brought our skills, and we brought our vision
We brought ambition, and tradition as well
Cant change the past, but you helped shape the future
The Irish rise from our poverty hell

There's tension rising in the dockyards
To drive us back across the sea
And riots in the town of Greenock
Only fuelled the flames of their bigotry

But the Irish changed their situation
Like a phoenix rising from the flames
From desperation, came celebration
And Glasgow Celtic was the name

Another Cinderella Story
A fairytale that must be heard
Another song of rags to riches
A brave new start in a brand new world

Countless ships of heads and faces,
Steaming up the Broomielaw
Into Greenock and Port Glasgow
The starving Irish came ashore

Thanks for that comrade. Are you Green Brigade?

The Holy Ground - Search by The Dubliners.

Fine girl you are!
Adieu to you my Dinah a thousand times adieu
We`re going away from the Holy Ground and the girls that we love true
We will sail the South sea over and then return for sure
To see again the girls we love and the Holy Ground once more
Fine girl you are! Your`re the girl that I adore
and still I live in hopes to see The Holy Ground once more. Fine girls you are!
See the storm a-rising I see it coming soon,
And the sky it is so cloudy you can scarcely see the moon.
And the good old ship, she was tossing about,
The riggin`was all tore, and still I live with hopes to see, The Holy ground once more.
And now the storm it is over and we are safe on shore,
We will drink a toast to the Holy Ground and the girls that we adore.
We will drink strong ale and porter and make the rafters roar,
And when our money is all spent we`ll go to sea for more.

Yea I knew them well my man. Keep it lit
Coming from Ruglen we could either walk down the Springfield road or get the bus from Bellgrove after a Huns game. Hobsons choice. As the bus from Bellgrove (77 Was one ) pulled into Brigton upstairs would erupt into " What will we do with the Brigton Derry" as the Huns pelted the windows wi bricks bottles n cans. Looking back....the 80s were mental?

Oh his name is Mikael Lustig,
He wears a Policeman's hat
Oh, They'd still be Glasgow Rangers
If they'd paid their tax and Vat.
If it's Ibrox, Parkhead, Hampden,
We'll beat them with a show
Cos' we've won the league,
and we've won the cup,
and we're going for ten in a row.

Foritsa....
.........................

A grand old team to play for
And it's a grand old team to see

And if you know the history
It's enough to make your heart
Go.....Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!

We don't care what the animals say
What the hell do we care

For we only know
That there's gonna be a show

And the Glasgow Celtic
Will be there

Love the old, 'CEL-TIC! CEL-TIC!' getting belted out the jungle, especially in Europe usually when we went 1-0 down You could visually see the other team stopping celebrating then a look of confused fear washing thro them! Incredible ?

That reminds me of losing 3-0 away to Juve, every time we conceded we went mental and burst into ‘here we go ten in a row’ we were singing louder than the Juve fans on either side of us celebrating a goal and they must have thought we were totally nuts...

Hard to pick a favourite. loved seeing the lyrics of some old forgotten tunes above.

But if I had to pick a favourite it would be Celtic symphony or the Willie Malley song.
