Nick Hammond will be joining Celtic on July 1

"CELTIC Football Club announced today that Nick Hammond will be joining Celtic on July 1 to work with the Club, initially across the summer period.
Nick is highly regarded across football having held Director of Football and Technical Director positions at Reading FC and West Bromwich Albion FC respectively.
Nick's knowledge, expertise and experience will be invaluable as he assists in the Club’s recruitment across the forthcoming period.
The Club has known Nick for some time and we are delighted that he is joining Celtic."
He joins on July 1st and Neil Lennon wants players signed by 4th July to qualify for playing in the CL games. He will have to earn his keep quickly. He is probably talking to agents already.

I’d be interested in finding out if Dermot Desmond is involved in this, possibility as exasperated as the rest of us with Lawwell.

Hammond has a great record with young players, especially young Irish players, and it is an open secret that Desmond is always wanting more players from Ireland signed. He basically doesn’t feel that Celtic are as popular/get as much exposure over there as he’d like/they used to.

He paid Robbie Keane’s wage, and pretty much signed Paddy McCourt for Strachan.

Anyway Nick Hammond is ideal for this, - he actually persuaded a young Jonny Hayes to knock us back for Reading.

It was also his decision to sack a certain Brendan Rodgers - maybe he got an insight into his character before the rest of us.

If those Irish players you imagine are Doyle Long and Hunt, little or nothing to do with him. Was Steve Coppell and his scouts.

He joins on July 1st and Neil Lennon wants players signed by 4th July to qualify for playing in the CL games. He will have to earn his keep quickly. He is probably talking to agents already.

He'll prove useful if PL is keen on selling assets. Be interesting to know if PL 'performance' bonus structure is related to on field football results or more to turnover and profits.
