it’s not really politics am want to ask a question about,it’s regards the nhs and the worrying rapid decline concerning hospital beds!!and staff and patients waiting in corridors,at the height of the covid pandemic the uk bastard Tory government mobilised workforces the length of the country to build eleven nightingale hospitals at the measly sum of £530 million…our own one in Glasgow cost £40 mill these took all in less than a year the sort??Glasgow one had zero patients with covid?then was used for vaccinations the same as the rest of the nightingales…surly to fuck in this crisis they have the funds and the know how to revamp them,to take the stress off the main infirmaries??the old saying where there’s a will there’s a way..

Bang on mate!!fuckin brexitmy point about nightingale hospitals is to free up beds that are getting used by poor people who have no one to take care of them if they were to get home!!obviously your wife is on the front line in that environment and god bless her,but if there was somewhere like a stop over ward or nightingale?….am tying Maself up in knots here but you get ma drift,,,it would free up ward space for punters coming into accident emergency coz that’s were the backlogs happening…..staff wise there’s lots of retired health care workers who are on bank?…..

Same over here as healthcare staff are under enormous pressure due to shortage of staff and everyone suffering from burnout, as they are overwhelmed on a daily basis
Healthcare professionals, nurses, doctors and others, are leaving the profession in their droves, as they are completely overworked and burnt out
Pressure is being put on Govt to allow certified healthcare professionals from other countries who are living here, to be allowed to work in their normal profession, rather than have to go through 4 years or more of 'training' to gain a 'piece of paper' which is currently required in Canada
I had a family member who was a 'theatre nurse' in the UK, she was in her 30's and had been in nursing for 20 years, but when she came here, she was told "You have to go to school (4 years of nurses training) handing out bedpans and the like included, in order to gain the certificate to be a nurse here"
She went the other route and worked in a care home as the regulations were not as strict, only a few months, instead of four years of 'school'
Meanwhile, the Tories/Liberals/Conservatives, continue to pad their bank balance by helping out there mates and their off shore bank accounts
They can afford to go through private healthcare, while the rest (us) have to wait sometimes years on waiting lists for much needed surgeries

Exactly Frank. Political will is the key. The Tory gov are free market ideologues. Socialised anything is against their principles. Everything is a commodity to them. Healthcare is not a human right its a commodity to be sold to ill people.
What kind of person factors in a profit margin when treating a child for cancer. Universal Healthcare is a hard won right. Our Grandfathers and Grandmothers fought and died to give us the NHS.
The tories are gonna hand the NHS over to the American Medical Industrial Complex.

It's chickens coming home to roost.

Years ago nurses were getting paid off, wards and hospitals were closed down and there has been a chronic lack of funding in the NHS for years.

From doctors to healthcare staff as well as social care workers are all overwhelmed and doing extra shifts etc. The purpose for all of this of course is to drive those who can afford it to pay for private healthcare. We will have a 2 tier system and God help those of us who can't afford it.

Brexit has caused issues as healthcare assistants from abroad aren't here to bolster the staffing crisis but at least the Tories will be able to ban workers from having the right to strike because they won't have to obey a European law.
