You have to wonder what Villa were thinking in the first place. He came with no pedigree whatsoever regarding managerial skills. It took him umpteen transfer windows buying dross to win a single trophy in 3 years so exactly what the Villa board thought they were splashing their cash on I just don't know.

I can only imagine that now he's reached the dizzy heights of mediocrity and been toppled over, we won't hear any more from Gerrard again.
