Tommy Burns' debut 45 years ago today

Great memories.
I recall a game at Firhill where a very young TB got himself sent off for slapping a Jags player 's face. There had been a nothing coming together, both players got up and went toe to toe exchanging pleasantries. Tommy lost it and gave his opponent a pathetic slap which earned the red card. I was standing near the corner where they access the changing rooms - boy did he look embarrassed on the way off the pitch.
I was pitchside on the track behind the goal at Parkhead (escorting disabled fans) to get a close up view of Tommy deliberately pushing the ball in front of him towards the byeline knowing that the opponent couldn't check his run and would wipe him out for a penalty. I swear he was smiling long before the contact. The smile was even broader when the pen was burried.
It didn't take Tommy long to go from innocent naivety to shrewd operator. Great memories of great player and an even greater man.
