Sold Down the River

How much longer do we have to debate the departure of KT.
he gave his all for Celtic every time he pulled on that jersey,we cant ask for anymore. Lets drop the subject of KT and concentrate on the future of Celtic, lets go and make some more history with this great club, first objective,League Cup,Championship,Scottish cup,,AGAIN..HH.

You dont have to debate it.

The OP obviously has it on his mind so can set a thread up if he likes.

If you like, you can bypass it.

Fair ??

The long and the short of it is is that none of us know what took place behind the scenes with this, all we have to go on is what KT and the club has said publicly. KT has said it was a hard decision but in the end he chose to go and the club has said they didn't want him to leave but in the end allowed him to leave anyway.

We can sit here and speculate whether KT really pushed for this move or that Lawell and the board were eyeing another big payday so didn't exactly go out of their way to keep him, maybe they even encouraged him to go but speculating changes nothing, he's an Arsenal player now and that's all she wrote! It's done, finished!

Personally I'm more interested in what we're going to do with his £25m transfer fee  Now the club has stated that from a financial perspective we didn't have to sell and we know that the bank balance was pretty healthy before the £25m landed in the account so since we've just banked a bonus £25m we can reasonably assume that if not all then a sizeable chunk of that £25m will be spent on new signings to sort out problem areas like RB/LB and improve on other areas with better quality players.

So it's all eyes on Peter Lawell and the board......

God Bless you AndyBhoy and I've covered the proceeds being reinvested in another article. As I've said in a conversation with WC earlier even my own family were spilt on the article. It is an opinion piece. I simply voice just that. Joining dots as I see them. It's not factual but it has foundation. My old man is already worried PL will have me disappear:)
If I don't post for 3 days please alert the authorities!

I fully understand why you wrote it mate and my post was in no way a criticism of the article itself or anyone's comments on it, I just feel like we're now torturing ourselves with this. We can't change it, we'll never know what really went on behind the scenes and while we're all agonising about the circumstances of something we can't do anything about we're not asking the most important question of all......What will the club now do with that £25m?

At the risk of echoing your old man's worries and alarming you further Niall......if PL WAS going to disappear you then he can now afford to pay top dollar for the best and pay off the authorities into the bargain, if I were you I'd go to ground for a while ;):LOL:

Spot on AB. As per the criticism and comments that's all fair and is perfectly welcome, comes with being an opinionated bhoy.
As you said earlier if indeed we didn't have to sell then let's see a big chunk on a couple of full backs of repute and a centre half.
My worry on that is we're being told via Lenny there still needs to be outs before the ins.
Not having that.
I'll give it a week then I'm diving back in. In a disguise of course. Where is that BA Baracus costume?
My old man will just have to pity his fool!

Och you sweet talking comforter ye ???

Cheers Maria. Rarely put my own stuff up in case I come across as a sanctimonious git. Much prefer if others post it for debate. I'll always join in if that happens.

I have never found you to be sanctimonious at all Niall. I have found it though just not in you pal.

No problem with that it just seems over the past wee while we are jumping down other posters throats in a bid to control the positive narrative.

No-one on here is any better than the next poster.

We need to get back to free speech and being decent to each other.

If its on someones mind it should be on the table. If its not your bag of chips don’t chip in.

Simples.

If I write something for the Celtic Star as opinionated and controversial as that I expect the fall out. No worries on that score. Happy to debate it. As long as someone doesn't tell me I shouldn't do it I'm all in! Cheers Maria(y)

Think this has been well debated ,whinged ,wailed at ,and some temper tantrums on here in the last week
none of us is privy to what went on behind the scenes or what Celtic did or not do
The Lad went his time under the snake may have swung it for him to head downthe road

No point talking this to death

HE's GONE GET OVER IT

I believe we would all agree that Peter Lawwell wields an inordinate amount of power throughout the corridors of Celtic Park; however - I think with a move of this magnitude and scale, there would be other (more) invested voices also casting their opinion on the subject.

One thing is clear, Kieran Tierney is no longer a Celtic player and for as much as I love the boy, he no longer plays a part in our day-to-day concerns.

I'm sure that in the fullness of time, there will be the inevitable autobiography that may shed a little more light, but it would be a massive kick in the teeth if at least £20 million of that transfer fee was not reinvested in the team.

As fans, we are often the last to know about what is discussed in conclave. We are left to speculate and react to conjecture which consequently leads to these types of debates.

I feel we have to focus on the facts as we know them and then dedicate ourselves to supporting the men currently wearing the jerseys. These types of events have often created division within the support and I believe that this season (more than most) we have to be United on all fronts. We know that we are going to be attacked by the media at any opportunity and right now, there will be the usual hacks spinning furiously trying to find even more negative angles.

KT is now confined to the line of "if you know your history", it's time to start making new histories for future generations to sing about.
