Fully understand about winger but why not Dembele
Welcome Murray. I agree, he is worth a try - maybe as an impact sub. Apparently there has been a falling out with Lennon (just gossip???). If he is wanting to leave then by playing him he will be worth more or it might even change his mind and attitude so that he stsys with us and develops into the exciting game changer we hope he can be.

As Gary says rumour mill has that he wants a move due to lack of game time.

I would have him in our side in a heartbeat, I've been hearing stories of this boy since he joined the youth setup, he was in the same team as my nephew and we were told very early on to remember his name as he's going to be a Star, I still hope he makes it with us.

Welcome to the madness Murray.

It's disappointing galling that Karamoko Dembele wanted his chance and didn't get it and now he wants away due to lack of playing time yet Ntcham kept getting played despite not wanting to be at Celtic for ages and it hasn't made him any more willing to be at Celtic.
Totally agree Neil. We have some fantastic young fringe players who are going to waste and will be disillusioned.it will also hamper us from trying to bring in youngsters in the future as they won't want to come to a club where their development halts!

I also pointed out in the summer that our young development players are used to playing in empty stadiums (and on plastic pitches too) so they wouldn't be so adversely affected with no fans in the grounds. All these factors should be taken into account when selecting teams and tactics.

Who are these "fantastic" young players? Our Academy produces fuck all. And hasn't for years. Since McGreggor we have had not a single one. We vave produced plenty for lesser teams that their ability can cover though, but, we have no fantastic young players. We have tomorrow's Dundee players. I watch their games and have for years, it's no surprise none if them get into the team and hold the jersey and this crop.are just the same. Over the last 40 years we have had only a handful of "fantastic" players.
80's
Nicholas
The Bear
McStay
90's
Can't remember a s8ngle one
2000's
Aiden
Malony

2010's
McGreggor
KT
2020's

So far none.

It's the easiest job in football when all you need to do is produce one player a decade.

I am.willing to bet none of the players become first team regulars as good or fantastic as any of the above. I had hoped for Dembelle but I'm.hearing yes turning into another cunt like Islam before him. The rest will be playing elsewhere for the Dundees and Kilmarnocks of this world.

I had this same argument over the years, and I mean 20 years and so far, we are lucky to get a truly great players only once or at most twice a decade. This crop are no better than all the other young players who people called were fantastic. The Academy needs gutted. It's a waste of money.

Well I am comforted to see a change of name hasn't resulted in a change in outlook. In MY opinion I think Dembele, Soro, Turnbull, Okoflex, Connell, Welsh, Harper and Henderson are fantastic young players with the potential to develop into Celtic regulars - but only if they are given a chance to develop by getting some carefully managed game time.

You might think they are fuck all and you are entitled to your opinion. I will stick to my belief. Unfortunately IMO I fear you will be proven right not due to a lack ability but purely because they are being ignored due to mismanagement and will probably leave us without getting a chance!

I thought you meant Academy. I agree those that haven't come through it are fantastic players . Jury well out on the others. I hope they become fantastic but they aren't yet. I suppose it all comes down to how we measure fantastic. That word has been used for 25 years on a hundred academy players and in my reckoning only 3 actually were.

I agree TV. It has been a bugbear of mine too about the lack of Academy youngsters that break into the first team squad. They win so much at all levels but very few actially make it. A few do make it at other teams then there is a clamour from some to try to bring them home. I don't think it is just us but its a failing at many of the bigger teams in Scotland.

The return in terms of first team players from our youth set up over the last decade and more is a disgrace. 3 players, Forrest, McGregor and KT is the sum total of first team regulars since 2010.
We have a Head of Youth Development in the job for 12 years, the same guy who released Andy Robertson because he was too small, and would also have let KT go as well had Ronny Deila not stepped in and put him in the first team squad.
Is it too difficult to look at the best youth set up in football, Ajax, and bring in one of their coaches (or ex coaches) and ask them to replicate the Ajax model of youth development at Lennoxtown?

As a country we haven't produced a world class player since the 70's. People may argue with that but again it's how you define WC. I think KT could m8ve into that level, but yes not there yet.

As for us? We produce next to fuck all of note and those that attain greatness do so away from.us. For the last 30 years our output is dismal. It really is at most, one player every 12 years. Loads have careers at shit teams, but, not for us. I have watched all the young academy guys you mentioned and not one, so far, look any better than no bad. Harper looks ok, but not lethal. Nowhere near Nicholas. The others always seem to be too wee. Too frail to really make it. Look at the build f the young Lille players. They have both technical ability and are strong.

Mickey Jihnson is another who I always feel is too easily brushed aside. Brilliant feet, a good shot but, he should rake a kwaf out of Christie and Pats beefing up regime. It was the making of Christie. Without it, young Mickey will struggle to harness his undoubted class because he gets flattened or brushed aside too easily. He is by a l8ng way, the best chance for a fantastic player, but, not unless he stops resembling the build of a wee boy. He could have been working on h7s upper body strength while out. If he hasn't that woukd concern me as to his chances of being a star for us.
