I know I am banging on about Peter Lawell. But John Mc Ginn's performance last night for Aston Villa was very good. It is another example to be included in the astronomical amount of money Peter Lawell has cost this club over his tenure. The non signing of Mc Ginn down to Lawell's interfering, parsimonius, preening, not to be beaten, stupid, heuberistic behaviour cannot be excused.
Some accountant. I thought they were employed to help you make money?

Very true POD the sooner he is gone the better, I can only conclude he is totally holding our club back and getting paid a fortune to do so, scandalous

I generally agree with you about PL but at least he hasn't run us into liquidation and given us zombie status like the vegetables masquerading as Rainjurrs. He didn't lose the keys to the gaff!
That is fair enough Shammy but its also true of 95%+ of football CEOs. I think there is a middle ground between what we do and the stupid financial armageddon that Diedco did (and the tribute act sppear to be copying). Spending a little more on fewer players and less on lots of "projects" that we have stopped trying to develop do they become worthless. Less interfering with deciding which players we should be buying.

And I'm fed up of us starting negotiations for a player in a position that we desperately need cover in, stalling for 2-3 weeks by which time we've failed to qualify for the Champions League against teams with smaller budgets and then complete the signing of that same player for the very same price demanded by the sellers at the start of the unsuccessful haggling process.

If Lawwell was involved in the commercial side of our business and let the playing side operate within tightly controlled budgets then I'd be much happier. Instead there have been several signings in recent years who said PL conducted himself as the Director of Football during negotiations, and I think we can agree that his ability to spot a player that fits into our playing system is pretty flawed and definitely not his strongest asset.

I do believe BB a proper director of football is required to replace that nonsense PL.
Do not see any positives he brings to the club, but seeing plenty of negatives.
A proper director of football should get us back to where we should be, a force within Europe.
Unfortunately we are currently stuck with a hun lover.
Get him to fuck out above anyone else, a judus with a green tie

Will we still be able to sign players on a Bosman? The Bosman ruling came about because of EU employment laws. As of 1 Jan EU Employment law will no longer apply here.
Last week Scottish football got agreement to continue as before with EU players - for this transfer window only. After that, well who knows. It will probably go to the points based system where they need to have played 75% of international matches in the previous 2 years to qualify for a visa. Scottish clubs will struggle to afford these types of experienced players. Maybe in the longer term Scottish players will get more opportunities so we might improve the national side but short term the club sides will possibly suffer in Europe we have to play more Scottish players.

I'm not sure how much of a force we can ever become if we are stuck in the current setup. The revenue from tv deals is miniscule in comparison to most other countries and is unlikely to improve.

It is also harder to qualify for the Champions League since they increased the number of automatic qualifiers from the top 4 leagues. This leaves us a UCL fodder who may occassionally punch above our weight to get the odd glory night, or more realistically have a good run in the Europa League (neither of which we have appeared capable of in recent seasons).

But IMO we can - and should - be doing better in Europe.

I totally agree about our set up is all wrong and improvements are required.
A director of football who can work closely with a manager and oversee recruitment and youth set up, even potentially getting a second team set up for younger players to compete in the league outside of the spfl.
This should allow a manager to deal with the every day running of the first team squad to have them prepared properly for upcoming matches.
A director of football also would give us a better outlook on a future player than the take a chance approach with potential big profit in the offering.
We are currently giving the reins to a money man who is more interested in his own self importance and thinking he's Mr celtic when he is only really a two faced judus bastard

Lenny promises nobody will leave in this window, has Peter sanctioned it ???

HH
Not quite promised nobody will leave us: "Yes, there will be no players being sold, unless it’s an offer that we think is the right thing for the club and for the squad".

This seems like a sensible starting point for negotiations if someone wants to buy any of our players. Based on his performances so far this season I wouldn't be too upset if we cashed in on Ntcham during this window.

So nobody will be sold ......unless we get paid. 🤔
Hmmm.

Agree with you I'd take any decent offer for Ntcham, he's just not delivering anything.
