French Eddie might stay another year

This is the sad situation where the top players in a club can hold the aces when you let them run into the last year of a contract, when it's only all about money.
By keeping hold of him last season put us in this position, especially when management should have known he wasn't up for the task in hand.
As a club, we are trying to much to get top dollar for our players, more so than what they are prepared to give us out on the pitch.
Eddy time is up now, so can't be left around a 1st team squad no matter what imo.
So club should sell even if it means getting in far less than we would like, and the only offer made to eddy is stay and play with the colts.
Wonder how many would want to sign someone with such an attitude and been shown up for just been another footballing mercenary
 
I dont mind if he stays another season as were not going to get the money we once thought anyway. It would help the club if he signs a year extension then we can cash in properly on his value. I wont see any of it so dont care it's just another example of poor management I.e ajer and Christie

It would have to be 2 years at least winter or its just an ongoing saga again this time next year and without knowing if he could really be bothered next season.
Of course the decision lies with eddy, but also the club needs to make a stance also.
Could also think the lure of CL money might be worth taking the chances of eddy really producing what he is capable of? To big of a risk if he's no longer got the desire to be with us imo, and never have believed in keeping players who no longer want to be at the club as it can have a terrible impact within a squad
 
If Leicester are trying to get Eddy with a lowball £15m offer then we should tell them where to go, tell his agent £25m or he stays. Even if he walks next summer for free, an Eddy playing for his big move (and big bucks given he'll be free) will be an asset for Ange.
£15m now and reduce chance of guaranteed £40m CL money OR
£0 next summer but a greatly increased chance of winning the league and access to the CL money (not to mention a money spinning pre season tour next summer).
A big decision for our new CEO, assuming its his decision to make.
Personally I'd get Ange to sit down with him and tell him what he wants from him, how he will improve him and get his big move next summer.
In saying all that I still think he'll leave and we won't replace him with anywhere close to the same quality.
 
Celtic have signed a young striker called Joey Dawson from Scunthorpe,His father played for Hull City and his better known uncle Michael Dawson played Centre back for Tottenham..
He has only played once in the Championship against Derby as a 16 year old,, Ivan Toney also only played once against Derby at some point and look at him now.
A very confident comment from him,I am looking at making the first team asap..
I am sure we are all looking forward to seeing him in the first team..

Looks like the Snake can't afford Eddy so we may be stuck with him but only (imo) if he signs another contract extension so we can make a quid.
 
Edouard staying would be huge. Like Sandman said, he can look as disinterested as he wants for all I care, as long as he puts 20-plus goals in next season like he did last season.

With Edouard staying, others coming back from injuries and reserves and loan players returning, I think we are in good shape.

I think Eddie would be playing out his skin , so he can get the beat pre season contact he could.
If the deal fell through because of some petty "Rodgers Tax" that's exactly what I would do if I was in his shoes

20 goals a season isn’t a good return, somewhere between 30-40 should be the standard for the 1st choice Celtic forward, when griff was our 1st choice starter before the snake arrived he battered in 40 goals a season 2015-16, I’m sure we’ll all agree griff is just a journeyman player not the £40 million superstar Eddie partakes to be, if he’s not sold in the close season, send him to train and play with the kids, I believe his surly lackadaisical attitude is detrimental to the team, I hope the first thing the new manager does is sit each player down and ask them to commit to the team, if the can’t or won’t, get them tae feck away from the 1st team, they wouldn’t get through the gates of lennoxtown, send then to train alone at barrowfield, let see who’s interested in Eddie if he’s not kicked a ball in anger for a year😡

I fail to see how you can claim we are in good shape icafiero, when still no improvements in coaching staff, a defence that needs urgent attention, a lack of depth within the squad, all areas that no change has been seen so far, more weaker now than we were at the start of last season.
Still enormous amount of work needs to be done and seems still there is a lack of urgency to carry it out

It's pretty simple, actually. Manager? Done. Director of football? Done. Wealth of talent all healthy from the first team down to the reserves and players returning from loans providing talent AND depth? Yep. All we need is a couple of key acquisitions and we are good to go.

Panic all you want, but next season looks pretty good to me.
 
So who's the DOF then? And who's the returning players that bring the talent and depth to the squad, you are on about?
Think you might be expecting to much of Ange to totally revitalise this potential squad as things stand.
 
Looks like Gordon Strachan is being touted as DoF in the rags. I would be more than happy with that. Knows the club from the inside and is well respected in and outside Scotland.

Others wouldn’t
wee Gordon knows his stuff and would give us the stability required
Great eye for a player, he put together a team in the midst of a massive downsizing that got us to last 16 twice
He seems to wet his pants when talking about developing players I’ve noticed
Perfect fit
