Eldest son, who lives in Edinburgh, being told by a few Hibs supporters that we have offered Johnston plus cash for Martin Boyle. Hopefully just an unfounded rumour but wouldn’t surprise me.
Would rather MJ went out on loan, Hibs would be a good loan move for him.

As much as I like Mick J, the hustle with which Ange wants to play doesn't suit him imho, but a loan to Hibs would I think still be a bit better than a loan out of the league. , Martin Boyle needs more consistency in his play and I could see him being an Ange type.

Imho we still need a decent back up goalie. Hopefully Barkas will be off loaded, Hazard needs a loan spell somewhere for consistency, and Bain has never quite made the grade.

Another good article by Niall. I think most of us really want Mikey to succeed at Parkhead but as Sutton rightly points out it is his decision making and not looking up for options that are Johnston's weakest areas. He states that McGeady was the same and this was corrected by teammates letting him know that he had better change - fair enough, but we don't have big no-messing characters like Sutton, Hartson, Lennon, etc in the dressing room these days.

Personally I'd prefer him to go on loan to a club like Hibs so he can improve through greater gametime and return to us as a much more influential player.

He seems to have lost something when he came back from injury and get's knocked off the ball and over far to easy.
Thing is with Boyle we are only seeing him at Hibs.
Ang has seen him in Australia and probably feels he can get a bit more out of him and if he thinks he's a Celtic player in the making that's good enough for me.
£3 million might seem a lot now but if we win the league and get £40 million of the back of the goals he and the other signings score then it's a cheap outlay IMHO

Boyle's having some season no doubt about that but I'd be disappointed to lose johnston at this stage of his career, with you on the loan deal be good for him and us , it does seem to me anyway that every pundit , ex player and their dug want Celtic to sign Boyle

Seems every transfer window this Boyle coming to us raises its head, but this time around I think this particular rumour may have more legs than previous ones imo.
Potentially using MJ in an attempt to lower the figure for Boyle may make more sense than we are given credit to it so far.
Might be contraversal here but I'm not to sure how Ange may rate Forrest especially with his injury concerns, so has Forrest started to become a player Ange can't depend upon?
Also Ange seems to like players with a decent amount of versatility about them, and if Ange would like to have options upon going for a 433 or a 3412 then Boyle gives you the option of being able to play in both potentially formations, more so than Forrest imo.
Also MJ dosen't really offer you that level of versatility either as he still remains fairly limited at what position he can fit into the team.
When you take into consideration the difference of quality in the oppersition we are aiming to play against, in the cream of European football and the anti football Park the bus teams, then there is a vast difference between the two and the players required to be able to maintain the best for the team all round.
Now I've stated all that, it possibly remains as shite paper talk still

I remember a certain Cristiano Ronaldo was the same in his early Man U career ..a show pony as Sutton puts it
..then he learned to pass the ball and take on a player at the right times...now im not comparing Micky to Ronaldo but id keep him at Celtic just now .
