The Celtic Masters of Disaster, Bombscare XI

Never like the threads that denigrate guys who have pulled on the hoops, granted some maybe shouldn't have but they were given an opportunity and tried so I've tried to always look for the good in them.

However like all things in life, be it great saves great free kicks etc there is always one that sticks out. And the one guy I wished that I had never seen in the hoops even though he played in that game we were talking about at Paisley is Maurice fuckin Johnstone. Stood beside Cesar for a pic saying he was coming back, but took the tax free money from the now deed team, bastard.

50, you've raised a good point and that's why I've tried to balance it out a bit.

I don't want to give the impression that any of the aforementioned were bad lads or even necessarily bad players, but I think it's sometimes interesting to compare and contrast those lads who didn't hit the heights in Hoops with those who did make their mark.

Some of the players in that XI were more gifted footballers than some of the boys who did carve out a decent career at Celtic, but sometimes players don't quite get what it means to be a Celtic player. Anton Rogan gave his all for Celtic and I don't think that should be underestimated, but he suffered in a poor side under Liam Brady, as did many others.

As for the traitor - he should be wiped from the history books and never mentioned again. I try not to hate, but I can't help it in his case.

Gordon Marshall is the worst Celtic goalie I've ever witnessed - and we've had a few pearlers. Cost us a real big trophy occasion v Raith Rovers as just one example. He should always be first pick in these sort of teams. He can have Jim Slavin and Gary Gillespie in front of him - serves him right.

Wisnae lucky enough to share a shower with him but i read some of his ex teammates kept their shorts in the shower when they seen big Dion
When Fergie sold him to Villa, he apparently raved about that part of Dion's anatomy to Doug Ellis.

Fergie wanted an extra million because he was selling someone who could kick a ball with his right, left and middle leg.

The reason I have no time for Marshall has nothing to do with his time at Parkhead, Maz - it's all to do with his antics at Rugby Park right after Seville.

What kind of professional timewastes when his team are being beat at home? The way he was chirping at Celtic players left a lot to be desired too.

If its masters of disasters then the stand out for me in recent memory is Efe Ambrose.
Holy moly , the fear he struck into u in big euro nights, the number of times we played teams off the park but you just knew Ambrose was gonna gift them summit…musta been soul destroying for the team.
Yet there were times when he'd go on a mazy and look world-class.

Big Efe had the same problem as Joso......all of the talent you could want in a defender, but the concentration and attention span of a walnut
