I wonder if there is a bit of realism finally being shown by someone over there. Richie is correct in his summattion of the difficulties facing them. Has Bennett grasped the nettle? Could the clearing of the old guard, be in preparation for a downsizing to live within their means, and gradually get them on a safer financial footing? The realisation of where they are at now, has to be hitting them. It is certainly patently obvious to any objective observer. I know this will not go down well with the Klan. But they have very little choice in the matter, other than withold season ticket money. And they will not do this en masse. Bennett knows this. They will be promised a future rebuild to challenge us in the longer term. Short and medium term pain for longer term gain. Their dilemma will be Champions League qualification. They badly need the money, but they will have to spend on players to make it. Beale seems to be linked mainly with EFL championship players he knew who had potential, but have lost their way. These will be their project players. A good CL performance and turn them over fast at a profit. Risky to go into the CL qualifiers with, unless you get lucky in the draw. Either way, it is going to be an interesting Summer. And in the meantime we will not be standing still.
