This is no time to be throwing the towel in !

I've spent more time than any sane individual should, mulling over the results/performances of two football games. Two domestic games, both of which resulted in losses and the squandering of precious points.

Am I concerned ?.. Yes... Am I angry? ..yes. Am throwing the towel in ?...Not a chance.
This club of ours sometimes leads to a severe bout of myopia breaking out, maybe it's actually more than that, maybe it's the ostrich syndrome; we bury our heads in the sand so as to ignore the obvious. The Celtic jersey HAS shrunk to fit inferior players.

I'm leaving myself open to ridicule here; having stated, perhaps more than I should have, that I'm actually disgusted with our lack of genuine ambition from our powerbroker's, I'm also fully aware, though, that we/they have the means to put things right.

A big ask? Given their record of misspending, ( with the the odd honourable exception ), then, yes, it most certainly is a big ask. Things is, for me anyway, there is no other viable route to stop the rot.

I've felt for a while now that we were just getting by, even when winning. I've tried to exercise patience while waiting for a sign that we'd made good choices in the summer market. I've been hoping against hope that, at least two or three, would blossom into first team ready players. My patience has reached an end. Waiting any longer is to invite a level of failure which really would be a last straw for many. Totally unforgivable.

But... it most definitely is retrievable. How badly do our board want it? Are they willing to give our rivals from Ibrox a route to escaping their financial purgatory? Only they can answer that. And only they have the solution.... Thing is, it's locked away in a bank vault.

Nothing ridiculous whatsoever in what you have said, Frank. You are absolutely spot on.

100% agree Frank. But people have to start earning their fantastic salaries by doing their jobs much better. This applies to every employee at the club - the CEO, Chairman, Board, Recruitment/Scouting, Manager, Coaches and the Players.

We struggled sometimes under Ange but kept on battering our opponents until the final whistle which often resulted in very late goals. Yesterday and against Killie we were desperately needing goals but chose to take all intensity out of the game and play tippy tappy possession fitba in our own half for the last 15 minutes to see out the game as deserved defeats. That is not acceptable.

And if anyone is not good enough to reach an acceptable standard on a routine basis, then they must be replaced immediately. There is still plenty of time to make a success of this season, but it requires a lot of behind closed doors, honesty and tough decision making. HH

I think to a certain extent we have all been spoiled by Angeball. Ange is a great manager, better than Brendan IMO. But we shouldn't compare the two. Ange now in the EPL, playing great football and a big chance of getting into the CL. The difference is that Ange will get millions and millions to spend to get Spurs ready for the CL. We wont. I know January isn't the best time to buy and sell, but I have a feeling that Brendan will get the cash to buy a couple of 'good' players. We have to win the league and qualify for this new CL set up as the cash available is an obscene amount. Waiting until the summer window will be too late.

Well said mate. The players need a settling in period but for hardly any of these players to not be showing up in training is shocking.
The board really are in the last chance saloon and what ever their ordering better be a Deluxe cause if we fuck up this title the biggest since the 10IRO and probably the biggest in our history for what is at stake there will be NO going back for them

The trouble in the Jan window every team is looking to rescue their season be it to secure a title or european place or avoid a relegation battle. now We have more money than the other teams in Scotland but a lot less than the top EPL or european leagues. We could match wages for a short term loan deal though and a good chance for someone to add some silverware to their record. Although had we still been in europe that would have been another carrot although I don';t know about adding to your European registered squad.
We have money though, its time to spend it.

The sad thing for me is I thought this summer was a time to really kick on and take the club to a higher level. We had a successful squad of talented winners, plenty money in the bank to invest in a handful of higher quality players. But we deliberately refused that option and decided to regress instead.

No one expects us to win the Champions League or any such nonsensical pie in the sky crap. But I want to be proud of my side in European football and have them at least compete rather than be cannon fodder. As long as we play well then I'd be happy with finishing 2nd, 3rd or even 4th in the group. Of course the new format means it is different from next season.

I would love to be entertained and not embarrassed and if we have some memorable victories on the way then all the better. That means more to me than having £70m+ in the bank.

Yip, absolutely bullseye, Bridie. A major opportunity squandered. it seems to be a Celtic thing.

If we got to that level of at least being able to compete and not get embarrassed the bean counters would have more in the bank.
We would get more money for points in Europe and the players that would be ready to move on would have greater value

I'm a conspiracy theory nutter and I believe our board have already conceded the league to their Glasgow business partners.
They sat on their hands while our rivals showed signs of strengthening (they weren't to know moleman was signing dross).
They brought back a guy that all the other managers had figured out how to play against. A guy that fielded weakened teams to prove a point last time he was here...then treated him the exact same way...knowing they'd get the same outcome.
We won't spend well in January. Lawwell will let his mates in the media drop name after name, to keep us mugs happy, then tell us it's hard to sign anyone in January, when we don't.
The scum will bank £60 million....and lawwell and his blue room brethren will have their strong "old firm"
But don't worry. Our board aren't complete mugs. They've made sure the blue room boys play their part. When has anyone in brown brogues came out and been honest? It never happens. Until a few weeks ago, when the huns were told, for the first time from their board, that their is a £10 million black hole in the accounts.
They've also said that black hole will be sorted. How? They dont have the value in their squad....they already know the outcome of the season, maybe?

Lawwell junior has already sourced 3 world class players...who will sign on the dotted line on the 1st of January. Lawwell senior and DD have sanctioned all sales, money not being an object. Every player is a player that BR has confirmed as the exact player he wants.
The scum will lose 2-1 today, conceding a penalty in the 97th and 99th minutes, both for Goldson hand balls.
We will hammer them at the end of the month and UEFA will sanction their club for dodgy tranfer deals between them and Everton.
The Daily Record will be bought by a decendant of one of the signatories of the Irish Proclamation of Independence. Sacking all their sports journalists being his 1st job.
Boyd will be sacked from sky because someone finally realises he's a fucking idiot.
Referees will be made to declare their allegiances, meaning the SFA are forced to hire refs from Europe to officiate games......all this will 100% happen in the coming weeks.

That's much better. A wee snort of something goes a long way.
All's well that ends..( Law ) well !!!

Seems the story of Celtic since just after the Seville final I said at the time we needed maybe 3 players who could add to the team and it never happened, the lack of forward planning in the club is shocking the idea of spending on a lot of prospects hoping you will get a payday out of them is no way to keep going as too much money has been lost this way. If we are being honest these days 6to 8 !illusion will get you a slightly above average player who in the SPFL will look like a superstar you may get lucky with a 3 to 4 mill player but you have the problem that they don't always have great games. There is still a lot of games to be played in the league but the way we are playing doesn't inspire confidence at the moment and watching the 2nd half against Kilmarnock the heads went down after they scored and panic seemed to set in and against Hearts we didnt look like scoring.

Keep talking like that and you will be getting fitted for one of those nice white jackets

Spot on Frank, not much more can be said, and while not throwing in the towel, so to speak, it's obvious the fire still burns within...and we are hurting as a support at the moment, I don't expect to win every game in the SPFL, but the other teams, with less money to spend 'bring it' when they come to Celtic Park, speaking for myself, it disgusts me to watch players wearing the Hoops, walking through games with no sense of urgency, whether we are 1-0 up or 5-0 up...they pick up their wages, and are safe in the knowledge that they have a contract...see some of players on big money who are willing to sit back and pick up their wage, none of us really know what is going on behind the scenes, but a shake up starting with the board, the coaching staff and finally the players needs to happen, if the 'wee teams' can do it and get fired up for games, our players for one, should show that they are in this fight...what more can the fans do, but support them each and every game, but between the lack of trying among our players at times, and the obvious (and here's me being a paranoid Tim) 'shenanigans' by the masons in black, as they attempt to help their beloved cloven hoofed brethren, to win the league...stay the course Bhoys and Ghirls, long way to go yet...FTB by the way YNWA
