It's not often that a player brings the whole Celtic family together but the legend that is Billy McNeil did so in life and in death. We are all hurting at this is the bitterest pill to swallow. One can only imagine the pain for his family if we as supporters feel as we do. Not just the first British club to be European champions under his captaincy also the first northern hemisphere club. this is my second comment but words can never do justice to the service and joy he brought to our beloved club. I could write superlatives all week long and it still wouldn't be enough ALL HAIL CEASER

If ever the current squad needed any incentive to see this season out in style they've just been given the biggest incentive possible. They will never emulate Billy but they can write their own peice of history that he would be proud of

I had the honour of meeting him on a number of occasions when I was a waiter in a hotel he owned with Joe McBride. Lovely down to earth man who just in the way he walked and moved carried authority and was given respect. RIP Billy and thank you.

Still remember in the summer of 67 a few of us weans gathering outside his house in Simshill, and Big Billy bringing a big Silver cup to the door for us to see, as 6 and 7 year-old kids we never really comprehend it, but I can still see the look of amazement that night when I told my old man.
