Julien Christopher

Edson Alvarez for me is the most crucial part of transfer summer. The board knows that for sure, our club made talks weeks ago with club America. If we lose the player Ill be gutted. The board did well with Jullien and Turnbull despite the latest twist but except from our fisrt signing, Alvarez still remains the most important part of Celtic business. This player is a project, you can't let him go.Before Jullien deal the board made their bid for Alvarez but wasn't enough. After that, they offered a better bid but not for Alvarez. They made a bid for Jullien.Im very happy though.Lennon gave everything during his birthday to sign Jullien and it's a very good signing. But the board needs to get things done before it's too late.We have to buy players who can stay for a while for 10 in a row and a big CL run to get profit for the club and then we can sell them whenever we want. For example, if we had Alvarez with Julien together as defenders our deff would be secured totally solving possible injury and overall quality problems that could take place in the team.Because deff is where we lack and we are here to make sure not just avoid conceding poor goals but being able to compete with decent European teams like Valencia.Last season if deff was well structured we could proceed in the next round beating Valencia. The team has to be complete. Not only in terms of attack but in terms of deff too.

I think McGuire is off - both Manchester teams after him so think he will be sold this summer. But don't think Rodgers will be brave enough to trust Benkovic in the EPL just yet, so he might go on loan for 1 last time.
He might even feel pressured into buying a centre half to appease the fans if McGuire goes. Suits us again. Worried about maddison too. If he goes B.R might chap the door for Calmac. This shit goes through my head at night. Sad but true!

Not a player I am that familiar with 888, so I checked him out on YouTube (not always reliable) and I can see why you are excited by him. He does look fantastic and you are right - he could become a massive star.

Rodgers had a bid of £5.1m turned down for him before then he signed an extension so his price will have gone up to much higher than Jullien. Always difficult competing for a player against top half EPL sides like Wolves!

I agree we probably need another CB as Hendry hasn't worked out (yet), but think any other big £ purchases will be on other positions, as we now have 3 very decent CBs and no starting RB.

If you talk about Simunovic while making a claim for 3 decent CBs Im not so sure whether Simunovic is a decent CB. Im not saying he isn't capable but im tired of him because he only made a few good performances and the rest was awful. He lacks in speed and marking players at times.Especially when we faced Zenit he couldn't win a single aerial duel from set pieces and long balls and the fun fact is that he was taller. Not to mention of his fouls and red cards in meaningless situations that cost us.He is injured most of time and when it seems to make some good attempts he only last for one or two phases of the game and after that he hit the ground.

I guess we'll have to disagree. I think you are being fairly harsh on him especially with regards to getting carded. In 86 appearances over 3.5 seasons he's been booked 10 times and sent off twice (and one of them was harshly for the "elbow" against sevco - in a game which we won - which was nothing compared to the assaults their thugs have inflicted on our players in the last couple of seasons).

Yes, he is injury prone, but with proper management and resting then this wouldn't be such a problem. I'd still start with Ajer ahead of him in most games.

I think Leicester last season wanted Benkovic to return for PL.They even thought of bringing him back during the winter period before the end of the season. They know what player he is and so does Rodgers who brought him to Paradise but especially Rodgers made sure to develop Benkovic well like he had a plan to hold him having talks with Leicester, it was like a strategy or a deal. But if Rodgers sell McGuire he will trust Benkovic I think making a place for him with further signings to come in King Power stadium.Leicester and Rodgers know the ability of Benkovic and maybe not let him return for Celtic.Benkovic will give his best to impress Rodgers I assume. If Rodgers is convinced he won't risk of letting him go back to Celtic.Rodgers eyes McGregor and won't let us take Benkovic back again. He will try to make a bargain maybe swapping Benkovic with McGregor but that won't work for him.Now he is with Leicester and he wants to make sure he is full of options and can make extra signings to secure success in PL. Hope I am wrong but i can't see Benkovic making a comeback

what about the poor penalty with PSG and the kick(red card) with Alashkert. The only good game he did is against Anderlecht.I only remember european blows with him in the back.

There are rumours about Edson Alvarez being moved to Wolves
A Mexican columnist said.We don't know if that's true.
This June we were linked with the Mexian CB but we didn't agree because of the 7,5 mil fee demanded by club America and if the current rumours are true then we lost to Wolves on signing Alvarez
Let me say that is another blow after Turnbull medical. It was a big chance. I think Alvarez is a player who is going to make a big impact in Europe very soon or later if other clubs are after him, but just not for now as it seems to be.

The owner of a taqueria here -- huge Club America fan -- is crushed that Alvarez is going to the Wolves, literally and figuratively.

Yeah, you're right. He was stupid against Alashkert (but we still won the tie 6-0 despite his stupidity) and like the rest of the team he struggled against a high flying front three of Neymar, Cavani & Mbappe. You've persuaded me - he's only had 1 good game for us so punt the useless cripple cos he's a liability. ?

Ralston played far better against Neymar. Simunovic made once again a poor foul against PSG granting them a penalty for free without reason. He didn't even try to deffend.
We lost against Zenit because of Simunovic. At least for the two of Zenit goals we conceded was because of Simunovic and he did nothing to mark a single player. A shortest player won him twice in aerial duels and netted the ball.Simunovic was just watching. He cost us also against Valencia.Izzaguire made his fault as well but Simunovic was nowhere to back him and protect Bain.
