Celtic fan attacked; left blinded & unconscious... Police say, "Not sectarian or football related"

Getting back to the original point
Sending positive vibes to the poor guy who was assaulted and thoughts go out to his family
Whether the police deem it sectarian or not, are they going to follow up on the information provided, on the bastards responsible
Nobody in Soctland believes this was not sectarian driven...nobody, or else they're mutants that see everything through orange tinted glasses
I sincerely hope this man makes a full recovery and the club ensures he is invited back to watch the Bhoys
Scotland, he deserves better than what he's been given
Scotland's shame, right enough
Police Scotland, give your head a shake
HH

Not sectarian! Maybe he didn’t like how he was eating his chips or his haircut. Maybe it was his trainers that drove him into a violent rage. He was attacked on sight! No argument, no history or backstory. How can the filth even say that with a straight face . Institutional sectarianism, nothing else can explain it

The sectarian element is difficult to prove. Remember when Neil Lennon was assaulted at Tynecastle? By the sounds of it the only thing hinting at that motivation that might hold weight was one of the gang saying something about 'laying him out on a union jack shroud' or something along those lines. Don't think it was the one that hit him though. Still they might not have been able to convict on that, but its stupid to be saying that's how they are treating it.

Even the PSNI in Belfast would have called out an incident like that as sectarian, it’s not something they need to prove when they say how an incident is being treated. It’s no excuse, the organisation is rotten to the core

The speed with which the polis announce there is no sectarian/ football related reason for such attacks suggests a political agenda for downplaying the extent of the problem in Scotland. The BBC failing to report it would suggest that they are also compelled to keep quiet on such things.
You’ve hit the nail on the head. They’re running a policy of ‘nothing to see here’ ‘move along, please’ ‘there’s no discrimination against Irish or those of Irish descent in this country’. The facts don’t support it, though. They have a serious problem and they need to deal with it, even if it means confronting boys in their own lodge

I’m not making this up...

I’m glad the professor from Aberdeen is cool with it as long as someone doesn’t get their head kicked in, but that’s exactly what it leads to. Saying 90% is verbal and that’s a good thing is like saying the 10% of violent incidents isn’t a problem. And percentages don’t take account of the sharp rise of attacks- if attacks have doubled from x to 2x that wouldn’t be reflected in the relative percentages

It would be a lovely gesture by the club to get himself and his family over (expenses paid) for a stadium tour and then hospitality during a EL game once he’s fully recovered

Anyone know if Celtic have done anything for this fan?
Have the Police changed their view and statement or arrested anyone?
