Celtic v Livingston - League, Saturday 10th April, KO 3pm

If only we played like that earlier in the season. The attacking 3 of Forrest, Turnbull & Elyounoussi behind Edouard is our strongest and today was only the 2nd time they all started together.
If Elyounoussi is available for the £4-5m reported then we should do everything we can to persuade him to commit permanently.
Young Welsh getting better with each game and now starting to look like a first pick Celtic centre half. Him and Ajer are forming quite a partnership.
In Kennedy's 5 games in charge we have only lost 1 goal, albeit through our achilles heal of defending set pieces. He has us back playing to the Rodgers style of play with a clear gameplan where everyone seems to know their job.
Big test next week but we have nothing to fear if we play as we did today. Forrest injury is a worry.
Just a pity aejer is leaving

Ok, so, youre a Bournemouth fan...you are languishing in the lower leagues and staring at an abyss...the board appoint an untried manager but a man who was a solid if unspectacular player at the club...the fans cry murder and call for blood..nobody wants this young an untried manager managing at their club...we want a big name, we want this , we want that ...we cant have a guy who has not managed before etc...The untried, appointed manager takes this team to heights they have never reached before...he becomes the messiah
everything is relative of course and celtic are obviously a much bigger team but Kennedy is a man who has worked under 6 Celtic managers both in a coaching and playing capacity...Nobody is better qualified for the expectation levels at Celtic than him domestically and on a european level

Nothing to do with Bournemouth, we got our best preformance in a nothing match today.
Out of the starting 11 I would say that 6 wouldn't be starting next season, so a huge hole needs to be filled.
Can JK attract the type of players needed? I very much doubt it and far to big of a risk with what's at stake next season.
So go out all attack on lenny then for depriving him the opportunity to show us how great he really is, or was he not also part of the shitshow the best part of the season has been.?

Great to see the new manager putting his mark on the team...Clearly Lennon muddied the waters after Brendan left and his style confused the team...Kennedy has them playing like they were under him and Rodgers

Dont understand all the Kennedy hate TBH...He is rated by those who have trained with him and coached with him ...sure he is a bit dour in his demeanour but he must have something about him

Give him the job
naw

Which is why we need someone like Davie Hay/Strachan , somebody of that ilk to oversee scouting and recruitment , working in tandem with him....
After the Barnes/Dalgleish debacle, you would possibly have kept maybe two or three of the players that year...same after Delia was in charge....we all know what happened the season after both of these....if he is backed and helped with recruitment and possibly a top-level fitness teAm brought in, I see no reason not to give him a chance

I've always felt, and still do feel, JK will manage Celtic at some point. But for his sake I hope it's not this time around. I'm not trying to sound clever just because we had probably our best result AND performance of this season. I've already given my thoughts on another post a while back. He will always be saddled with being part of the "losing the ten" thing. He is held in very high esteem by people in the game; KT being the most recent in saying, if he was still a Celtic player, he would bite your hand off if you offered him JK as manager. Whoever our next gaffer is, he has a truly massive job on his hands. The last thing he needs is to be found guilty before trial.

You answered your own question there with fitness.
He started the season as 1st team coach, so hence has to also take responsibility for lack of fitness, set play defending etc.
For these main reasons I don't believe he should be offered the job now, maybe in time to come.
Will be able to make a far better judgement after the cup match against SS

i get that and respect it but why shouldnt he be given a chance?? as said, he is rated by all those who have actually worked with him

I think before I would be convinced he deserves a shot at it he would need to cut the cord at Celtic, go out into the wider football world and gain some more knowledge on different coaching philosophies, styles, tactics etc. get himself a wider education on the game.

When he's done that he should put himself out there for other managerial positions, cut his teeth elsewhere, prove he's got the credentials and earn the right to be considered for the Celtic hotseat.

Howe is also highly rated by all those who have worked with him but just like yourself I'm no entirely convinced of his suitability for the job either, mainly because I don't see the level of experience and know how needed to handle the pressures and expectations that come with managing a club like Celtic.

Kennedy has even less managerial experience and right now I just don't think he's ready for it or has earned it yet. One day maybe but if he got the job now then I reckon it would be wrong for both him and Celtic and fuck up any chance he might have of getting it in the future when he could be better prepared for it.

I know some will disagree with me regarding Howe but they should go have a listen to the likes of Ronny Deila, Lenny and Strachan talk about the immense and unique pressures that come with being Celtic manager, it's a really tough gig and being a good coach is only a part of the job.

Top level teams need specialised fitness coaches which is what we had under Brendan... probably the fittest Celtic team I've ever seen.... Lenny came with his ideas and unfortunately we all know what went wrong

Which is why giving the job to someone who has been brought up behind the scenes and knows about these pressures and expectations for over 20 years is the best option
