Celtic weaker than last season - Provan

Lenny has cleared out the non contributors and the loanees, he has more work to do on that. One or two others might want away too (maybe Ntcham, Rogic?) and these things need to be addressed as this month continues. But it is crucial that Celtic don't stand still and do invest to make us stronger than last season - regardless of what Davie Provan or the rest of them say or write.

Me too. For me he was also more bertie bombscare than not.

Made me nervous as fk and it looked like it permeated through the whole team when he had the ball.

Only had a couple of decent games just prior to and after the world cup, that i can remember.
 
Middle to front we are in a great place. If anything we're stronger despite many players leaving. Shved and Morgan are back from loans. Griffiths is bursting to make up for lost time and Arzani will be back soon and he'll give us the depth we need out wide. But defensively we are weaker.
You can't lose Tierney and Lustig and not be weaker at full back. You can't lose two good central defenders and replace with one in Jullien and say we're not lacking in depth.
I think we need the board to back Lenny now for 2 full backs and a central defender. If we get that everything else we'd like to get can wait until January or even next summer. If we don't do that we'll know this board is not taking European progression seriously. We'll be fine for now but remember how short we were in December last year. Injuries and suspensions will kick in.
 
Hahaha what a statement to make from Provan, if Celtic are weaker then what is going to happen up here in Scotland is going to haunt the SFA for the foreseeable future and beyond. it is going to the Harlem Globetrotters v Every Cunt.

I'd have thought the Gourock sage might just have waited for the end of the transfer window before passing judgement unless of course he's spent too long down south and missed the fact we still have the cash and the opportunity to sign players.

The jury may be currently out on Boli but overall if we assume he will have genuine competition for the left side, include Bittons defensive performances then consider Ajers showings centrally and on the right side the potential is there for a sound defensive group as the season unfolds if we secure two more solid defenders.

Overall given the reasons above I disagree with another ex player in the pocket of his paymasters.

We have, imo,
A. Upgraded at RB
B. Increased the choice of CB 's. I include a fit again Nir Biton in this.
C. A group of talented midfielders.
D. A surplus of wingers on both sides of the park.
cover for the fullback positions and another striker would be nice, but weakend ??
I think not Mr Provan. Extract your head from the arse of SKY's football dept and stop behaving like a puppet.
 
Tierney is the massive loss in terms of European football. We have enough realistically, with the changes Lennon has made with the style of play, to piss it domestically but like Niall J pointed out it's the 8 to 10 week period in the winter where we'll definitely need more quality depth at the back.
