The lurch to the right in world politics for me is a big worry. Thing is, it's not just the cartoon characters dressed up as leaders we have to worry about. It's the fact that people seem no longer willing, or able, to think for themselves. That goes for right and left. Democracy is still the best option for humankind in my opinion. But if the thinking of the majority can be influenced, even controlled, then it is much easier to strip it of it's intended purpose.
I used to add my comments to a world wide forum based in the USA.
All was going for for a couple of years till
I wrote the problem with you yanks is you believe your own BS.
The USA is the riches country in the world but its not even in the top 3 countries in the world for standard of living, which goes to the 3 Scandian countries.
Who are socialist countries, where everybody pays their fare share of Tax.
As Tax is the only fair way to distribute the wealth of a country.
When I tried to log in the following week it wouldn't let me because I was barred.
I even tried to join up under a different name but they were onto me thru my email address.

I was in the US at Christmas and the new year. I was expecting (based on TV, Newspapers, social media etc) to fly into chaos. When I got there no one asked to see my covid passport, negative covid test, passenger locator form or Attestation to the US. I had stressed about those documents for weeks. California was the same as it always was though. The thing that surprised me most was that nearly everyone was masked up. A lot more than here.

Just this morning, Coutts Alberta, police arrested 11 'Freedom protestors' and checking 3 trailers, found guns and ammunition, and a machete
Peaceful protest eh ?
I believe these clowns are in some cases, being funded by far right groups, and idiots in the US who believe Trump should be President, are loving all the anti Govt turmoil up north
The Parliament buildings in Ottawa are behind the tightest security, after threats to storm the building
Social media is driving these things and it's genuinely scary thinking that they are now targeting schools and hospitals, with their mob handed protests
I don't agree with everything the Govt does, but this is a different world we're living in now, and I respect the science, rather than professor Google
