Time for the Rebel songs, post your favourites here

My take and correct me if I'm wrong but for me the Wolfetones will always be the finest purveyors of the scene. Them and the Irish Brigade were akin to the Beatles and the Stones of the movement. Then you had the Blarney Pilgrims putting their twist on the things in the late 80's early 90's. I saw some memorable performances from them namely in McNees, the Plaza , Renfrew ferry and the Cladda club!
They paved the way for a succession of bands like Shebeen, EireOg, Athenrye, CATB , Spirit of 67, Adelante and many more..
Early 2000's we used to be partners in a pub in the North of Glasgow and we had some crazy and memorable nights in there with some of the above acts. Apart from the fact Covid won't let anyone in, you won't see nights like these again in Glasgow and the West...

Here's one of my "modern favourites"

Turn it up loud if you don't know it

I saw the Irish Brigade in Owenie’s in Dungloe years ago. Brilliant. Plus I used to go up and sing Irish Soldier Laddie and Four Green Fields in the Thatch in Burtonport. No longer there. Same with the voice.😂 Another favourite, although not a rebel is Carrickfergus.

Over the years as I visited Arbour Hill and Kilmainham and realised that the signatories of the Proclamation knew they were signing their own death warrants I drifted from the warlike tunes to the songs of pride, sorrow and respect for the Rising itself plus the historic songs that led you through the history. I made a CD containing these and many more which is a beauty so ..........
