Where Can We Improve?

I'm assuming you mean on the pitch, as we have another thread where we are discussing transfers and recruitment.

You have nailed it for me. It is all relative as we are such a successful side domestically, but for me it is set pieces where we can make the biggest improvement. 100%.

Our conversion rate is shocking and these short corners & free kicks seem to achieve very little except have 1 less player on the receiving end IF we do try to cross the ball in.

And every free kick against us in our own half, or corner we have to defend feels like the best possible scoring opportunity for our opponents.

Our own throw ins are a 50/50 lottery instead of a good way to progress up the pitch. Our players are far too static and don't show enough for the ball to give several options.

I would also like to see us develop more home-grown youth players, instead of trying so many young foreigners. We are entitled to 9 subs on the bench and can bring on 5. So I'd like to see 1 or 2 of our own youngsters on the bench so they can be introduced once a match is as good as won. Give the best youngsters are reason to stay with us - if there is a history of us bringing on and developing players then that can only be a good thing. Plus fans love to see one of our own flourish into a successful Celt.

Set pieces for one for me. Both offensively and defensively.

So many goals come from set pieces these days and yet we seem to be lacking here. Why is this?

Where else can we do better in your view?…
Noticed our forwards making plenty of runs in behind the other night but our defence and midfielders either dont spot them or are too cautious to play the pass.Does my head in .Looking forward to Hatate coming back as the wee fella is great at threading balls through a defence .

This is what I found with regards stats for goals for and against this season.

I just feel that we are more likely to concede a goal from a set piece than score from one. Bear in mind we win a lot more attacking ones than defensive ones.

Imho we could reduce the price of a season ticket and single match day tickets...

Improve the catering inside the stadium.....

Hard one this one, but shoot the fuckers who vape whilst in their seats, I mean the big cloud of smoke must be a clue eh.. 😱 Ie better stewarding..

Have some decent pre and half-time entertainment.

And better liaison with the Celtic support especially through the bloggers give them info well before msm and let them get the message out....

And finally forget getting into negotiations with the SFA spfl and the zombies about allowing them back into our stadium...

Apart fae that its fine...

P.S get the pitch fixed and have a youth game on before kick off allowing fans the chance to see our up and coming sellable assets...

From what I’ve read, big teams have specialist coaches for specific aspects of the game. ie, defending, corners, free kicks, throw ins, tactical awareness, the team shape in defensive and attacking transitions, et al.

When I was playing we were taught to mark attacking players tight
whilst defending set pieces by staying goal side of the player with your shoulder in front of the attacker to stop the player getting a run at the ball.

Another was as a full back, to make sure you weren’t ball watching and could always see where the player you were marking was, as well as where the ball was.

Another was big players marked opposing big players defending the box. Not like the miss matches I’ve seen where the likes of Greg Taylor marks Godhun which is just stupid.

And the there’s our throw ins where players get too close to the thrower which kills the space, and worse still, why throw the ball to a players mid riff when you can throw it to his feet. Basic mistakes but we see it every week. Why does these basic mistakes keep happening?

And one that does my head in, why when we’ve created a 1 v 1 out wide, do other players make runs in to that space bringing more defenders with them which the kills the space? The player on the ball is then forced to go inside in to traffic as a consequence.

Why no defender on the goal line at the back post when defending corners? I know goalkeepers get a say in this but for me it should happen. Thoughts?

Little things make a big difference. What’s your take?

Trolls GTF…
