Alex Zanarde, an Italian who used to race in F1 then went off to race in the US, he had an horror crash, front of his car was torn off and amputated both legs above the knees. So here we have a young man that's gone from the glitz and glamour of top flight International motor racing to being severely disabled. Didn't keep Alex down for long though, he took up hand cycling (a sort of wheel chair but powered by a crank operated by your hands) Alex went on to win gold medals at the London and Rio Olympics. He sums up the indomitable human spirit and courage that some people can muster when everything seems against them, inspirational guy and a fantastic effervescent character. (and you wouldn't want to arm wrestle him!)
