Will the people ever fight back?

And yet the prescribing nurse in my GP practice came here from NZ because of the poor wages and lack of opportunity. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Was this nurse a Kiwi?
If so then she would have got a job with more pay in Australia and her passport is her visa, unless recently changed.
Wages are lower, but the lifestyle can't be better. It's a trade off, like anything you take the good with the bad.

Think the only time there would be a proper uprising in the uk is if someone switched the internet off :ROFLMAO:
Offt naw kelly dinae say that ! Dont even think it. How would we survive?
I dont have the stamps and envelopes to post my bs to the Celtic noise magazine.
And what would the young uns do?
No tinternet would be equivalent to an extinction level event , heavens forbid πŸ˜₯

Yes she's a Kiwi. I couldn't wrap my head round the fact that someone would move from there to here considering the weather, lifestyle etc over there but she defo said her pay in NZ sucked and she couldn't even afford a mortgage.

I bet she's young.
I'm surprised she didn't come to Australia.
I have so many friends who are from NZ, they come to Australia for good weather and for better pay.
It's cold in Scotland but it's a really good place to live, I loved it! If I could've got the same money there as I did here when I was younger I would've stayed. People couldn't understand that about me back then.

It looks like we're heading for another winter of discontent if everyone who would like a decent pay rise doesn't get it and end up on strike.

There does seem to be a marked difference between the have and have nots in the country.

I was in a large shopping centre the other week and it was heaving with folk spending money. Look at the queues at the airports with folk spending tons to holiday abroad.

If you have a decent job and a decent wage then fine but if you are unemployed or on the minimum wage or Scottish Living wage then things are going to get tougher.

I'm not a car owner but those who are spending a fortune on fuel while the oil companies make record breaking profits must be raging.

This is what happens in a Capitalist economy but that's what idiots erm I mean people voted for. Well they did in England anyway!

The divide will be deep and I suspect we're going to go backwards and pensioners will end up dying in their thousands from hypothermia again.

The UK Government also have contingency plans for introducing 4 day working weeks and cutting off gas supplies to factories, offices and homes if temperatures plummet and gas storage levels reach low levels. Yes, if it gets too cold then they will contemplate closing gas supplies. Meanwhile our energy companies are currently making vast profits by selling UK produced gas to Europe at vastly inflated prices.

Its 24⁰ BB, not a cloud in the sky, just a typical day in glesga πŸ˜‚

Richest companies profits up 73%.
Inflation being pushed up by these profits while the poorest in society are told they can't have wage rises for fear of causing more inflation.
Politicians wages up from Β£65000 to Β£85000 a year since 2010.
Biggest squeeze on UK employees wages since the nepoleonic wars.
The biggest tranfer of wealth in modern history.
The working class working for their own poverty.
Children in the UK on one meal a day, if they're lucky.
And its going to get a lot worse.
Christmas will be cancelled for millions of families this year.

I've read some comments on here from our older member who fought the system.
The miners strikes. The poll tax strikes.
Where has that fight gone from this country. Is there anything left or will we just allow the elite to stamp us into the ground until we are nothing but worn down and barely surviving just to keep them in their positions of power?
Where are all the leaders of the 60s, 70s and 80s who can help us stand up and take back power?

I'm looking for some hope on this thread!! πŸ˜”πŸ˜”
There's no hope Lubo, we're in the grip of hyper-capitalism.
No hope for health - still canny get a doctor's appointment in person due to the "pandemic".
No hope for education - working class Scottish boys on free school meals are the demographic with the least favourable school leaving destinations (ie. no prospects).
No hope for politics - tories, liebour, limp dums and SNP are all crooks.

Thank fuck we got Ange, eh? :D

Even more baffling is that the Tories won seats in areas that were decimated by Thatcherism. Areas that no longer have industries and therefore no jobs to speak of.

Of course there's no opposition to the Tories as Labour have been bereft of ideas since they decided to ditch socialism in favour of moving to the right. The Labour Party are just Tories in cheaper suits.

I was actually thinking the other day... we could get doctor's appointments, ambulances in under 6 hours and there were no food banks under Thatcher.

You'd think 35 years of "progressive" policies would've yielded an improvement. But naw.
Fuckin' sad times when I get nostalgic about that witch. :D
