Johnny, I understand your frustration, but you only have to look at the bloated grotesquerie down south to see what can happen if football clubs are driven by an incapable party. He has been here far too long and made millions out of us. He has to go NOW.
Keep him aye he's good at his job but he has to be distanced from the actual footballing side. Let him be CEO and leave D.O.F and chief scout etc to others who know what they are doingI would keep him but have him do better by the team than is currently showin.
Maria we have lost one gme of football and tactically got it wrong, now according to some we are shite, a costly mistake agreed but shut down the whole season and not allow guys to settle, interior motives afoot on the Celtic blogs with haters venting their anger. This has been Celtic since 1888 and yet here we stand big and proud 131 years old. Not bad for a club in crisis.

He has been here for too long, he should never have given Neil Lennon the job without interviewing other candidates, he gave Ronny Deila the managers job because he was a cheap option when Steve Clarke was available, he gave Neil Lennon the managers job twice, again as cheap options.Johnny, I understand your frustration, but you only have to look at the bloated grotesquerie down south to see what can happen if football clubs are driven by an incapable party.
Bolton, Portsmouth, Hull and Sunderland have all suffered at the hands of poor leadership and that is only the tip of the iceberg.
Peter Lawwell does not have the expertise to make football related decisions and that may well be a failing on his part; however - he has steadied a ship which was haemorrhaging money through the MON era, as we tried to compete against a financially doped monstrosity.
He's made massive miscalculations, but none (as yet) which have been catastrophic.
We sometimes have to be careful what we wish for......

Rose, that is one of the big concerns I do have about Peter Lawwell. It's one thing to be a "hands on" type of guy, it's another thing completely to want to exert total control of the operation.I totally agree Winter but I question if PL is actually capable of leaving others to get on with the job. Unfortunately, the world just now is full of people who have to have complete control over others and are unable to leave them to get on with their duties of the roll. I’m no expert but can see signs that point to this at Celtic FC. I would love us to get a clear system for scouting and recruitment and a DOF but while PL is still in post as CEO I therefore have misgivings about how autonomous they would actually be allowed to operate.
As in the previous response, I do understand your frustration, Johnny, but football will never be an exact science and there are far too many variables in any given game to accurately predict what will happen in terms of winning trophies. He has been here for too long, he should never have given Neil Lennon the job without interviewing other candidates, he gave Ronny Deila the managers job because he was a cheap option when Steve Clarke was available, he gave Neil Lennon the managers job twice, again as cheap options.
The first time, Neil lennon could not even win a treble with Sevco out of the way. I could go on, but that will do for now.

The evidence being presented from certain quarters would suggest that he has way too much influence in matters which should be beyond his remit; however - it is difficult to verify this due to the lack of transparency from the hierarchy.
Any successful business can only function if specialist people are given full jurisdiction in their specialist roles. If there are varying opinions on costings and evaluations, then that may lead to conflict, but regardless of that in our case - football matters should be entrusted to football people and financial matters entrusted to the financiers.
If the football people are provided with a budget for transfers, then how they utilise that budget should be entirely up to them. If they fail in their decision making, then it is fair to judge them harshly by that standard.
It is not clear if this is currently the case at Celtic, but it would appear that certain parties within the board exert far too much influence on our transfer policy, either in negotiations or in targetting players.
If someone is entrusted to perform a task, they should be left to get on with said task. If they are incapable of performing said task capably, then they alone are accountable.
Excellent points very well presented in your post, Rose
We are not shite. The defence is shite and Lenny’s performance was shite. Mid to front we can be excellent but if we don’t fix the defence and Lenny continues to make a complete arse of big games we may well become shite.
That’s the issue.
Love the band and Freddie to bits - since I was 14 lol xYeah ano. He was talented. For sure.
