All this retribution talk is counter productive. Every working person has the right to move on. You should want to create an environment that allows and encourages honesty and then you can deal with it.

If he punishes them forwanting away other players will just shut up about their intentions and when they spring thst want away we have less time to replace him.

These players who leave, we want to get the highest fee for. That isnt helped by painting them as villains. We also need to win games and we play the team who can achieve that. If they want a better team to come in requires they play well. So, make it easy to talk about personal career goals, know when they want to go and prepare for the transition by identifying replacements.

Spite seldom ends well in any walk of life.

This is the problem we face. We have become seen as a successful springboard for young foreign players to win a move to the riches of English football. Even if they "drop down" to the English Championship from us then they will still often be picking up a bigger wage than we will pay them.

Therefore, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that these players enjoy a couple of years of success with us and then decide that is tome for the next phase of their career plan. Remember, these guys have not grown up worshipping the Hoops like we have - it is a job to them. As long as these people are professional and try their absolute best for us when they are here then that is good enough for me - but if they don't then they can feck off!

This will only change when our transfer strategy changes from trying to buy projects based on how they may perform once they have moved on from Celtic (so less priority on potential sell on value - besides that only really works if we develop snd improve the players, and that can't happen if we don't play them!) and instead the main consideration is how they will improve us.

Think of the dramatic positive impact transfers like Commons, Robson, Hartley, etc had on us. These were relatively cheap experienced pros who did a fantastic job for us in the short and medium term. OK, they all had no sell on value, but how many £millions have we lost with failed projects?
