How was the 10 stopped??

Think it was a case of lethargy and transition Lubo, the 'Lions' were gone, think big Billy retired that season, the quality street gang were comin through, but we lost the likes of Davie Hay and George Connolly,we won both cups, but got pumped out early in Europe, the team's performances in the league, were pretty uninspiring to put it mildly, oddly enough 10 in a row, did'nt seem to inspire the fan's, attendance, were decreasing, the usual die hards were there giving the team 100%,but,the atmosphere had dissipated, the team performance affected the mood of the crowd, the lack of atmosphere affected the players, the highlight of the season was getting absolutely blootered at the cup final when we pumped the Hibees 6-3 and Dixie's hatrick!HH 🍺 🥳

Exactly the kind of replies I was looking for. Thank you gents. I hope in 100 odd year when I'm roughly the same age as MD some young whipper snapper asks the same question about the 10 on the noise and i can give my answer and share my experience. Hopefully the thread won't be called "stopping the 10 part 2" obviously but you know what i mean. 😁

Good summary of the season Michael. In the end i felt we just gave up. Deflation springs to mind with a weird acceptance we hadn't done enough but at that point the record was still ours even without EBT "schemes".

Out of curiosity; would anyone swap growing up supporting Celtic during the current 9iar for our first 9iar?

I know I would. This has been an amazing time of complete domination, but the way MD puts it, by God, what a time that must have been to be a supporter!
Doing both is excellent
Was one of only 3 Celts in my year at school when we did 9 the first time and to lord it over the dark side made the craic at school pretty simple.
It's actually my biggest memory of the first 9. All a bit fuzzy to be honest. Google it!!🙂🙂

I was a wee kid that used to go about singing the Pilot song "Magic" all the time - oh, oh, ooohhh it magic, you know, it's gonna be ten in a row.

I don't remember to much of the football because there was so little on the telly - Archie on Saturday night & Arthur on a Sunday afternoon.

Things seemed to fizzle out. I guess because we were setting a new target that no-one thought could ever be matched then it was just a normal disappointment when we lost.

As we are trying to achieve a new record to overcome the financially doped cheats then it is such a massive deal to us (as was stopping there 10 in the 90s).

I think it was the season after Big Jock's near fatal car crash??? And things seemed to fizzle out. I guess because we were setting a new target that no-one thought could ever be matched then it was just a normal disappointment when we lost.

Hated pilot's version BB, loved oor's! 🍺 🥳

EBT'S started 2001-2010, The way we are starting to get our Act together am very confident of the 🙌.HH
Yes, but for the 12 years before that (and then for the next 8 years until Murray sold them) they were throwing stupid money buying up the cream of English football and European players like Laudrup and the Dutch contingent using the bank's money. These huge debts were never paid off until the tax payers bailed out HBOS.

We are definitely getting things right and will win 10.

The quality Fader in the 60s and 70s was completely different from what it is today.
Fotballers nowadays are like athletes,a comparison between the 70s and the present can be made by looking at a guy called Colin Bell a midfield player for Man City.
This guy was considered to be one of the fittest players around so they put a tag on his ankle which would tell the club how far he was running during each game,so they did this for 3 games and he averaged 3500 metres for each game lasting the full 90 minutes.
When Sky introduced all the stats on players and clubs they commented one time that Stillian Petrov was taken of after 79 minutes and had covered just over 11000 meters before he was taken off..
Training in the 60s lasted about 2...2.5 hours then the Bhoys went home,,bookies,,snooker etc, now training can be all day with a break for something to eat probably prepared by a nutritionist like everything they eat wiil have been advised for them..
Skill is a different ball game completely, you have heard the saying,,when will we see the likes again,,for me here in Scotland,NEVER,we had Jinky,Murdoch,Dalgleish,McGrain,Lennox, Caesar,,etc,I know this will be difficult for the Younger Bhoys and Ghirls to understand but the older guy,s like myself will realise we were not watching 11 players we were watching 11 entertainers,..
I remember Jim Baxter telling Wullie Johnstone that he was waiting to give Puskas his autograph,he was joking obviously,,But 100000 people in the Bernabeu refused to go home after Celtic had played Real Madrid in De Stefano,s testimonial until Jinky came back out for the crowd to applaud him for the display he put on that night, and best of all De Stefano would not have his photograph taken until Jinky turned up,,class sheer class..
How can we possibly call nowadays 11 men behind the ball entertainment..
